IIIT Manipur Admission Dates 2027

The next B.Tech admission cycle is expected to start with JEE Main 2027 registration in November 2026. Applicants will need a valid JEE Main score and must take part in JoSAA counselling for seat allocation. The dates below are tentative and remain subject to official NTA and JoSAA announcements.

All B.Tech seats at IIIT Manipur are allotted through JoSAA using JEE Main scores. Ph.D selection is conducted twice each year through a departmental written test and interview. Applications for the 2026-27 Ph.D intake under the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme were open as of October 2026.

IIIT Manipur Courses and Fees

Students can pursue B.Tech or Ph.D programmes at IIIT Manipur. Each of the six B.Tech specialisations follows the same four-year duration, admission requirements and general category fee structure. The Ph.D programme usually takes three to five years.

The Public-Private Partnership cost-sharing system makes the B.Tech fee higher than at many comparable IIITs. The first-year semester fee is INR 2.30 Lakhs because it includes one-time admission charges. Later semester fees range from INR 2.07 Lakhs to INR 2.13 Lakhs. Eligible SC/ST students can have their tuition and other covered fees paid through the Ministry of Tribal Affairs scholarship.

IIIT Manipur Admission Process

Admission requirements differ between the B.Tech and Ph.D programmes. B.Tech applicants are selected through the national JEE Main and JoSAA system, while Ph.D candidates complete an institute-level selection process.

B.Tech Admission

IIIT Manipur does not conduct a separate entrance examination for B.Tech admission. Applicants must qualify for JEE Main and complete JoSAA counselling.

• Complete 10+2 or an equivalent qualification with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
• Appear for JEE Main and obtain a valid score.
• Register for JoSAA counselling and enter the preferred institute and course choices.
• Accept the allotted seat, submit the required documents and complete verification.
• Pay the admission fee to confirm the seat.

As IIIT Manipur is a newer institute with a smaller student group, its JoSAA closing ranks are generally more accessible than those of older IIITs. Among its B.Tech options, CSE has the lowest closing rank.

Ph.D Admission

Ph.D intake takes place twice a year through regular Ministry of Education funding and the MeitY Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme. Applicants must hold an M.Tech, or a B.Tech supported by a valid GATE or UGC/CSIR NET score. Each relevant department selects students through a written examination followed by an interview.

IIIT Manipur Placements

During IIIT Manipur placements 2024, 32 of the 42 registered students received job offers. This produced a placement rate of 85.2%. The highest salary was INR 40 LPA, while the average and median packages were INR 8.7 LPA and INR 7.5 LPA, respectively.

Amazon made the highest offer in the 2024 placement cycle. Accenture, Cognizant, Infosys, Deloitte, LTI, IBM, TCS and Reliance JIO were among the other confirmed recruiters. Hiring covered product companies, IT services, consulting and other technology fields. The institute's programmes in CSE, Cyber Security, AI and Data Science, VLSI and related areas attract both software and hardware recruiters.

Most of the 10 students who did not enter campus placements chose to continue their studies. Students also receive support for off-campus recruitment and competitive coding activities. They regularly qualify for internships at leading research institutions.

IIIT Manipur Scholarships

Central government scholarship schemes provide financial help to eligible SC, ST, OBC, EBC and DNT students at IIIT Manipur. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs ST Student Scholarship is an important option for tribal students from Manipur.

Applications are submitted through the National Scholarship Portal at the beginning of each academic year. Eligible students can use the ST scholarship to reduce a substantial part of their B.Tech expenses, which is particularly relevant because Manipur has a significant Scheduled Tribe population.

IIIT Manipur Campus and Infrastructure

IIIT Manipur presently uses its city campus at Mantripukhri, Imphal. Separate hostel facilities are provided for male and female students. A larger permanent campus covering 150 acres is under phased construction at Mayangkhang in Kangpokpi district.

Academic work is organised through three departments: Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Sciences and Humanities. Students have access to VLSI laboratories, software engineering laboratories and computing facilities. Academic partnerships with universities in the USA, Singapore and Russia also support international research interaction.

IIIT Manipur vs IIIT Kalyani vs IIIT Una

IIIT Manipur, IIIT Kalyani in West Bengal and IIIT Una in Himachal Pradesh are newer Institutes of National Importance operating under the Ministry of Education. Each follows the Public-Private Partnership model and uses JoSAA counselling for B.Tech admission.

Quantum Technologies and Cyber Security are among the newer specialisations that distinguish IIIT Manipur, along with its INR 40 LPA highest offer in 2024. IIIT Kalyani is close to the Kalyani industrial corridor and Kolkata's technology network, while IIIT Una has links with the developing technology sector in Himachal Pradesh. The three institutes share Institute of National Importance status and the JoSAA admission route.
