CUSB Admission Dates 2027

Admissions for the 2026-27 session at CUSB are over. For 2027-28, the university will follow the CUET calendar run by NTA. CUET UG scores are used for UG and integrated courses, CUET PG scores are used for PG courses, and GPAT is used for M.Pharm. The schedule below follows the expected 2027-28 admission timeline based on earlier admission cycles.

NTA conducts both CUET UG registration and CUET PG registration through its website. Students have to register for the correct CUET exam, choose CUSB in the university preference list, and then appear for the entrance test. After results are declared, CUSB makes its own merit list from CUET scores and calls selected students for document checking and admission.

CUSB Courses and Fees

CUSB offers 84+ distinct programmes. These include 5-year integrated UG+PG courses, 2-year postgraduate courses, and Ph.D research in 25+ disciplines. Its fee structure follows the central university model, where a large part of the operating cost is supported by the Government of India.

The integrated 5-year courses are a major part of CUSB's course structure because they combine undergraduate and postgraduate study through one admission. Among them, B.Sc + M.Sc in Agriculture and B.Sc (Hons.) Agriculture have higher total fees of INR 1,74,000 and INR 2,35,800. Among standalone PG courses, M.Sc in Data Science and Statistics and Data Science are the highest-fee options at INR 94,072.

CUSB Admission Process

CUSB admission is based on national entrance exams. For UG and PG courses, students do not get direct admission through a separate CUSB-only application. CUET scores are used as the main entry route, and the CUSB Admission Cell prepares the merit list for eligible students.

UG and Integrated Programme Admissions

• Eligibility: Students must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board with at least 50% aggregate. For SC/ST/OBC/PwD students, the minimum is 45%. Science courses also need the relevant subject background.
• Entrance exam: Students need a valid CUET UG score in the required domain subjects. CUSB lists the required CUET subjects for each course in its admission notice.
• Process: The steps include CUET UG registration through NTA, choosing CUSB in university preferences, taking CUET, checking CUET results, CUSB merit list release, document verification, fee payment, and class start. Counselling usually takes place in two to three rounds.
• Cutoff context: Popular integrated courses such as B.Sc + M.Sc Computer Science and BA + MA English have earlier seen CUET UG closing percentiles above the 85th to 90th percentile range. Science courses remain competitive because the integrated batches have limited seats.

Standalone PG Admissions (MA / M.Sc / LLM / M.Ed / MSW)

• Eligibility: Applicants need a graduation degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% aggregate. Reserved category students need 45%.
• Entrance exam: Admission is through a valid CUET PG score in the relevant subject domain.
• Process: Students register for CUET PG through NTA, appear for the exam, check results, and then follow the CUSB PG merit list, document verification, and admission steps. LLM applicants must also have a valid LLB degree with 50% marks.

M.Pharm Admission

CUSB uses GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) scores for M.Pharm admission. Students must have a B.Pharm degree from a recognised institution with at least 55% aggregate. The two specialisations offered are Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology.

Ph.D Admission

Ph.D admission at CUSB is done through the university's Research Entrance Test (RET), followed by a departmental interview for shortlisted students. Applicants need a PG degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% aggregate, or 50% for reserved categories. UGC NET or GATE qualified students are usually exempted from RET and are called directly for the interview. CUSB offers Ph.D programmes in 25+ disciplines across all departments.

CUSB Placements and Career Outcomes

CUSB mainly offers courses in arts, science, humanities, law, and related fields. Campus placements are more common for students from M.Sc Computer Science, M.Sc Data Science, M.Sc AI, and law courses such as BALLB and LLM. Many students from arts, humanities, and pure science courses prepare for government exams, research fellowships, or academic careers.

Graduates from M.Sc Computer Science and Data Science have secured roles in IT and analytics companies. For PG students entering IT jobs, starting salary packages usually fall between INR 3 to INR 7 LPA. BALLB and LLM graduates commonly move towards litigation, district court practice, or judiciary exam preparation such as BPSC Judicial Service and UP PCS-J. Agriculture students often look at ICAR, state agricultural departments, or research paths through ICAR-SRF/JRF fellowships.

The Placement Cell at CUSB organises campus drives and connects final-year students with suitable industry partners and government recruitment opportunities. Since the university has a strong academic and research focus, many alumni have also qualified UGC-NET/JRF.

CUSB Rankings

CUSB performs best in NIRF in the Law category, where it has a national top-25 position. Pharmacy is also listed in NIRF, showing the growing academic strength of its M.Pharm and D.Pharm programmes.

CUSB's 23rd national rank in Law is an important achievement for a central university founded in 2009. It places the university among India's top-25 law institutions for BALLB and LLM. The 63rd rank in Pharmacy also points to rising research strength in the M.Pharm department.

CUSB Campus and Infrastructure

CUSB's permanent campus is at Panchanpur, 15 km from Gaya city, Bihar. Spread across 300 acres, it includes academic buildings, a central library, computer labs, science research laboratories, an agriculture farm for the agriculture department, and separate hostels for men and women.

The central library provides academic journals, digital databases through UGC-INFLIBNET e-Shodh Sindhu, and research publications for students and scholars. Hostel fees on campus go up to INR 19,000 per year. Gaya is also a historically important city, with Bodh Gaya located 15 km away on the Buddhist circuit. The city has rail links to Patna, Varanasi, and Delhi, and Gaya Junction is a major railway station, which helps students reach the campus from different parts of Bihar and eastern India.

The campus is still being developed under the long-term permanent campus plan. Some facilities and amenities are under construction. Students should confirm the current hostel and facility status with the CUSB admissions office during admission.

CUSB Scholarships

CUSB students can apply for Government of India scholarships and fellowship schemes because the institution is a central university. Research students can also access JRF, SRF, and project assistant support funded by bodies such as UGC, CSIR, DBT, ICSSR, and DST.

Since CUSB charges low fees, scholarship support mainly helps students meet living costs such as hostel, food, and travel. Ph.D scholars with UGC fellowships receive strong financial support during their research period at CUSB.

CUSB vs MGCU vs Patna University

Students in Bihar often compare CUSB with Mahatma Gandhi Central University (MGCU), Motihari, and Patna University. All three institutions offer UG and PG courses in arts, science, and humanities for students from the state.

CUSB has stronger NIRF visibility, especially because its Law rank of 23 is nationally important. It also stands out for its integrated UG+PG model. MGCU is a newer central university in north Bihar's Champaran region and is still expanding its academic portfolio. Patna University, founded much earlier, has the advantage of a long history, a large alumni base, and an urban campus in the state capital.
