BE Eligibility and Admission Process

To apply for BE/B.Tech, students need 50% marks in 10+2 with English, Physics, Maths and Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer Science. The required marks for reserved category applicants are 45%. Admission follows either of two routes: a COMEDK UGET score with COMEDK counselling, or a KCET score with KCET counselling.

For the KCET route, register for counselling at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea. Applicants using COMEDK UGET must register at comedk.org.

BE Cutoff Ranks

Both KCET and COMEDK UGET ranks are accepted for BE admission. For the GM, or General Merit, category, the overall COMEDK UGET Round 1 cutoff in 2024 ranged from 23770 to 42968.

BCA Duration, Seats and Eligibility

The full-time BCA runs for 3 years and has 180 seats. Applicants must have passed 10+2 with 50% marks, with Maths as a compulsory subject.

BCA Selection Process

A KCET score forms the basis of BCA selection. Students must then take part in KCET counselling, where their performance is considered for admission.

MBA Eligibility and Selection

MCA is a full-time course lasting 2 years, with an intake of 60 students. A bachelor's degree in any discipline with 50% marks is required. Maths must have been a compulsory subject either in 10+2 or during the undergraduate degree.

PhD Eligibility and Admission Process

A relevant master's degree with 55% marks is the minimum qualification. Reserved category students receive a relaxation of 5% in the marks requirement.

Selection takes place through JSSSTU RET, the Research Entrance Test, and then an interview. Applicants who have qualified for JRF fellowships or lectureship through UGC / CSIRNET / DBT-JRF / ICMR-JRF / ICAR / SLET(KSET) / GATE do not need to take the entrance test.

Applications for undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses are submitted online at jssstuniv.in. The application charge is INR 500 for UG and PG courses and INR 1,000 for PhD courses.

Ans. A part-time M.Tech option is available at JSS Science and Technology University. Students need at least 3 years to finish the programme and may take up to 6 years.

Ques. What conditions must engineering diploma holders meet for second-year entry?

Ans. Lateral entry, which allows admission directly to the 2nd year, is available to students with a diploma in the relevant engineering discipline and 45% marks. The diploma must be recognised by the Government or the university. Those who earned their diploma outside Karnataka must submit an equivalence/eligibility certificate issued by the Director of Technical Education.
