The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) follows the online application process for admission. Interested candidates are required to fill the application form on the university’s official admission website.

IISER conducts admission mainly through three channels namely,

  • JEE Advanced
  • Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY)
  • State and Central Boards (SCB)

For the BS-MS Integrated program, the university follows an entrance exam called Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research Aptitude Test (IAT) for the admission process which will be conducted through the SCB channel.

Candidates who are qualified in JEE and KVPY are excluded from the IAT exam. Admission for JEE and KVPY qualified students is based on the score in the respective exams.

For PhD programs, the admission is based on a written test score followed by an interview. Candidates are supposed to apply online for the test along with the necessary documents and application fee. Candidates can apply for the test on the official website of the university.

IISER BS-MS Admission Criteria 2024

Selection Criteria

  • Candidates applying through the SCB channel are selected based on the IISER aptitude test score.
  • Candidates qualifying JEE Advanced cut-off or fair score in KVPY are also granted admission.

IISER PG Admission Criteria 2024

IISER Kolkata offers two postgraduate programs: a 2 year MS program and a 7-years Integrated PhD program. Both programs have different eligibility and application requirements.

  • The first step is to create an account on the website using an e-mail address, after which you can access the application form.
