KCT Admission Process

KCT follows separate admission routes for UG and PG courses. BE/BTech seats are filled through TNEA and management quota admission, while MBA, ME, MTech, and MCA admissions use Anna University counselling or approved entrance scores.

BE/BTech Admission at KCT

For BE and BTech, 65% seats are allotted through TNEA counselling conducted by Anna University. The remaining 35% seats are filled by KCT under the management quota. TNEA quota applicants do not need to take a separate entrance test.

  • Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with minimum 45% aggregate for General/OBC category and 40% for SC/ST.
  • TNEA Code: 2712
  • Selection through TNEA: Normalised Class 12 PCM marks are used for rank preparation. A higher normalised score improves allotment chances.
  • Management quota: Students need minimum 45% in 10+2 PCM. A TNEA rank is not needed, and applications are submitted at admissions.kct.ac.in.

In TNEA 2025, KCT closed at 4268 for CSE and 5285 for ECE in the OC category. These ranks change every year according to the merit list and applicant count.

MBA Admission at KCT

KCT Business School admits MBA students through government quota and management quota. Government quota seats are allotted through Anna University PG counselling based on TANCET rank. For management quota seats, KCT accepts CAT, MAT, CMAT, or XAT scores, followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview at the campus.

  • Eligibility: Any bachelor’s degree from a recognised university with minimum 50% aggregate, or 45% for reserved categories.
  • Final-year students can apply provisionally.
  • Management quota merit is based on entrance score, previous academic record, and GD/PI performance.

ME/MTech and MCA Admission at KCT

ME and MTech admissions are handled through Anna University PG counselling using TANCET or GATE scores. GATE-qualified ME/MTech students must check Teaching Assistantship conditions directly with the KCT admissions office. MCA seats are filled through Anna University MCA counselling based on TANCET scores. For ME/MTech, applicants need a BE/BTech degree in a relevant discipline with minimum 50%.

KCT Campus and Infrastructure

KCT has a 156-acre campus in Coimbatore’s IT corridor. Students use dedicated seminar halls, department-wise engineering laboratories, a central library, and a wellness centre.

The college also has industry-partnered labs supported by Bosch, Siemens, Yokogawa, and Fluke. These labs give students access to professional instruments used in manufacturing and automation, and they also support internship and placement links with partner firms.

KCT provides separate hostels for boys and girls. Hostel fees range from INR 38,000 to INR 45,000 per year. The full campus has high-speed internet. Sports facilities include courts, grounds, and a gymnasium. Academic blocks, hostels, and sports spaces are placed close to one another, so resident students can move between them easily.

KCT vs Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College vs Coimbatore Institute of Technology

Students applying through TNEA in Coimbatore often compare KCT with Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC) and Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT). KCT and SREC are private autonomous colleges, while CIT is government-aided and follows TNEA-only admission without a management quota.

KCT and SREC fall in the same NIRF tier and both have a management quota route for students who do not get a competitive TNEA rank. CIT can be a lower-cost option for students who secure a seat through TNEA because it is government-aided. KCT stands out through its larger campus and industry lab partnerships with Bosch and Siemens, especially for students interested in infrastructure and core engineering placements.
