Government College of Technology, Coimbatore is a state-funded university, affiliated with Anna University. It has been ranked 104 in the Engineering category in the NIRF 2020 ranking. Ques: Is GCT, Coimbatore good?

Ans: The university is quite good including the infrastructure as well. It is a place where you will enjoy your college life and is unique in every way. The wide variety of clubs make the campus more enjoyable, and you can develop various skills through them. Moreover, the placement rate is good enough, thereby making it a great institute.

Ques: Are there any drawbacks of GCT, Coimbatore?

Ans: No, the university does not have any major drawbacks. Yet, each one has its own drawbacks. Similarly, there may be some difficulties here, which you will have to adjust to. Like, the hostels are not so great, since the institute was made a long time ago, therefore, the hostels may have broken pipes or cracked floors. Another drawback being the university gives utmost importance to theoretical knowledge and less importance to a practical one. Also, the teachers do not spoon-feed and you will have to study most of the part on your own.

Ques: What are the timings of GCT?

Ans: The college timings are usually from 9 AM - 5 PM. Depending upon the timetable of different departments, the students might have a break of 2-3 hours in between.

Ques: Are there any cases about ragging or teasing at GCT, Coimbatore?

Ans: Till now there has been no case of ragging at GCT. The seniors are quite friendly and even help them with their notes. Juniors often take seniors' advice in selecting their electives as well. They act like brothers and sisters, and there are no signs of ragging or teasing. Their unity is much evident during various departmental fests.

Ques: How are hostel facilities at GCT, Coimbatore?

Ans: Since it is a government-aided college, the hostel facilities are not quite good. The food is also not too good because it is cooked for around 300 students. Hostel rooms are clumsy as around 3-4 students have to share one small room. Internet facilities are provided but do not have a good reach.
