KEC Erode Admission Process

Undergraduate applicants have two routes: TNEA counselling for the 65% government quota and direct college applications for the 35% management quota. Postgraduate selection uses TANCET-based state counselling, with CAT also accepted for MBA. KEC does not hold a separate entrance test.

Steps for BE and BTech Admission

  1. Choose the government quota or management quota route. These account for 65% and 35%, respectively, of the 1,710 BE/BTech seats.
  2. For government quota admission, register at tneaonline.org. Select KEC Erode and list the branches in your preferred order.
  3. TNEA allots government quota seats according to rank, which is calculated entirely from Class 12 PCM average marks. If applicants have equal averages, Mathematics marks are considered first, followed by Physics marks.
  4. For management quota admission, apply to KEC directly. A TNEA rank is not needed. The four-year fee is INR 5,00,000 for most BE/BTech branches and INR 5,25,000 for Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Reservations within the government quota follow Tamil Nadu's category rules.

Second-year Entry for Diploma Holders

A Diploma aggregate of at least 45% is needed for lateral entry. Eligible Diploma holders can join the second year through TNEA Lateral Entry counselling. The yearly fee is INR 55,000, matching the government quota BE rate.

Steps for ME and MTech Admission

  1. Meet the academic requirement: a BE or BTech degree with at least 50% aggregate for the General category.
  2. Take TANCET.
  3. Participate in Anna University's TANCA counselling for admission.

The ME fee for the full 2-year course is INR 1,00,000 in every specialisation.

Steps for MBA Admission

  1. Complete a bachelor's degree in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate.
  2. Apply with TANCET MBA or CAT scores.
  3. Take part in TAMAT counselling for seat allocation.

For the complete two-year MBA, government quota students pay INR 2,00,000, while the management quota fee is INR 2,80,000.

KEC Erode Rankings

The 2025 NIRF Engineering results place KEC within India's top 150 engineering institutions, in the 101-150 band. Its A++ accreditation is the highest grade awarded by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), held by only a small share of Tamil Nadu's private engineering colleges.

Ranking OrganisationCategory2025 Position
NIRFEngineering101-150 band

NAAC assesses the institution's teaching, research, facilities, governance and student outcomes. Several BE courses also have NBA accreditation, which checks whether students achieve the learning outcomes set for each programme. Together with its NIRF position, these accreditations place KEC among the more highly accredited private engineering colleges in the Erode-Coimbatore region.

KEC Erode Campus and Infrastructure

Perundurai's road and rail connections link the college with Erode and Coimbatore. Erode city is about 15 km from the 167-acre campus. Undergraduate and postgraduate departments share the site with a central library, computer laboratories and dedicated research facilities.

Male and female students have separate hostels on campus, each costing INR 80,000 per year. The architecture school offers BArch, making KEC one of the few private engineering colleges in Erode district with an undergraduate architecture course. MTech study in Chemical Engineering, Food Technology and Information Technology supports research in less conventional engineering fields connected with regional industries.

Across its 14 BE/BTech specialisations, KEC has 1,710 undergraduate seats. Its intake is larger than that of many private autonomous engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu, where the usual range is 300 to 900 seats. NAAC A++ and NBA accreditation cover institutional management and programme outcomes, respectively.

KEC Erode Scholarships

Eligible students can reduce their education costs through Tamil Nadu and central government schemes, along with KEC's merit awards. The government quota tuition of INR 55,000 per year is uniform, and scholarship support can lower the amount students ultimately pay.
