Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (Sir MVIT), was established in 1986 in Karnataka by Sri Krishnadevaraya Educational Trust. It is affiliated with the Visvesvaraya Technological University and approved by AICTE. It is also accredited by the NBA and graded ‘A’ by NAAC. Sir MVIT's Ranking by Outlook is 27th out of 160 engineering colleges in 2024.

Sir MVIT offers BTech as its flagship program. To be eligible for admission, candidates must secure 45% (40% in the case of reserved categories) in the 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one among Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or Technical Vocational Subjects. The final selection is based on the JEE Main, KCET, or COMEDK UGET examination scores. 25% of the seats are reserved under management quota. MVIT Bangalore cutoff for KCET 2024 for the GM category for BTech ranges from 12912 to 85307. MVIT Bangalore's fee structure for BTech ranges from INR 7 lakhs to INR 24 lakhs (total).

Sir MVIT Placements 2023 witnessed 40 companies visiting the campus and making 520 offers. The average placement percentage was 77%. The highest CTC offered was INR 12.84 LPA. Some of the recruiters were Cognizant, TCS, Accenture, Wipro, MindTree, Aricent, L&T, Robert Bosch, etc.
