Is BIT Bangalore worth taking admission in? Know about your college here.

What I Liked

  • What I personally like about this college is its crowd, and campus life is very different compared to other colleges. It has a soothing environment and is in the center of the very happening city, Bangalore. There are many other colleges in the area of Vokkaligara Sangha including ours.

  • The faculty is quite good but for north indians, there is a language barrier in Bangalore especially in this college. They sometimes speak to us in Kannada which is a little confusing as I am from the north. But rest all assured, faculty knows what they are teaching.

What I didn’t like

  • What I really dislike about this college is its small campus. It has many colleges near it and is built on 5 acres only. Our college has 7 floors and a small ground to play volleyball, football, badminton and kabaddi.

  • Only thing I dislike about the faculty is the language barrier thing which makes us uncomfortable to ask questions since they speak in Kannada majorly. Campus life is not that good compared to other colleges if you’re expecting something big and something new.

BIT Bangalore is currently one of the top 5 colleges in Bangalore for engineering. To gain admission into this college, you need to write either COMEDK or KCET. You can also be admitted to this college by the management quota.

The cutoff to join this college varies depending on the exam you’ve written. For example, the cutoff to join this college is between 2,000 and 75,000 if you’ve written COMEDK. To prepare for COMEDK, you need to know the PU College syllabus. The NCERT syllabus is enough too.

Course Curriculum Overview: I chose this course as it is new in the field of engineering and has various opportunities in the future. Just like how AI/ML was introduced recently and is getting popular among engineering courses, IoT and Cyber Security, too, are recently introduced courses at this college and might have a better and bigger record-breaking placement in the upcoming years, hopefully. The faculty teaching IoT and cyber security is good enough, but they are very strict towards the students. Their teaching method is old-school but easy enough for the students to understand. Term exams are held twice a year, and they got postponed due to VTU’s order last semester. The difficulty level of the term-end exams is easy-moderate. The fee hike policy is not too costly compared to other colleges, to be honest. If you’re taking admission through COMEDK, then every college has the same amount of fees, i.e., 2.64 Lakh per annum.

Internship Opportunities: I haven’t opted for any internships, but there are a few details I can give you about them. Interns get a stipend of around 7k–50k INR/ month, depending on the roles offered and skills of the intern. There are a lot of internship opportunities at BIT Bangalore. Most companies hiring interns with promised PPOs and FTEs are Boeing, GE Aerospace, and O9 Solutions. Internship roles vary, such as SDE Intern, Data Analyst, etc., depending on your skill and knowledge of the offered field.

Placement Experience: Placement and job opportunities are a lot in this college. However, due to the recession, fewer companies are approaching BIT compared to previous years. The eligibility criteria for placement are different for each branch. For CSE, you need to crack the online assessment round (OA), you need to crack the coding round; and then finally get shortlisted to give interviews to the companies to which you have applied to get an on-campus placement. A few recruiters here are PhonePe, CISCO, Intuit, Oracle, Benz, O9 Solutions, and GE Aerospace.

See what other students say about Placements at BIT Bangalore

1,100+ offers were made to roughly 800+ students. The highest package recorded was 45 LPA off-campus. Around 70% of the eligible students get placed in their dream companies with an attractive package. My plans after getting the degree are probably a Masters in Technology (M.Tech) abroad in CSE Cyber Security or AIML.

Campus Life: Campus life is okay-ish compared to other colleges in Bangalore. We have a festival every year known as MANTHAN. It’s the biggest festival in our college and is conducted around every December-January period.

All types of study materials are available in the library, which are the most helpful during exam season.

Classrooms have good benches, windows for ventilation, and fans. Unfortunately, we don’t have A/Cs in classrooms.

Sports and extracurricular activities are carried out on campus, but they're mostly for volleyball and Kabaddi. You can play football too. There are a lot of clubs in our college, like The Social Club, Rotaract Club, OS Code Club, GDSC, etc. You can join any of them, and it’s really fun to take part in club activities. The hostel is good and pretty old, but it’s affordable and adjustable. The food quality is a lot better than in other hostels or PGs. We get paneer, chicken, aloo palya, and other South Indian delicacies. Registration is through the physical appearance of the hostel.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I had keen interest in electronics and electrical, so I opted this course. Course curriculum was well structured but some unnecessary subjects which have no use in 7 and 8 semester was there which was really frustrating during studying. In my stream, more focus was given to Electrical domain because most of the faculties were from that domain. Senior faculties were well- qualified, distinguished professor which were good in every aspects. But junior and young were really bad. They taught really bad some 2-3 important subjects which really hamper our hold in that subjects. Teaching method was more of theoretical and computational. It was really tough to sustain in EEE branch as courses are really advanced one. Getting good cgpa is a challenge. 2-3 unit tests used to be conducted once in a month. Unit tests were moderate level. Final exams level was moderate to tough.

Placement Experience:

Placements and job opportunities are really good for CS, IT, AI-ML department with high packages. But for EE, ECE big core companies doesn't participate. So many students moves to low paying core jobs or software roles. Robert Bosch came and took 8-10 students from my batch with 5.5L, Capgemini took 2 students from my batch with 4.5 and 6.5L. I opted for higher studies so I didn't seat for placement.

Teacher are good, and the environment is quite good but the campus is not big as compared to other colleges. Faculty are friendly and clarify every doubt we face labs and the system are maintained good but the chairs are not too comfortable

Placement Experience:

Every week we get to participate in placement activity and placement training sessions. Placements are conducted after completion of 1st year and we have to pass in all the subjects we have . We get to practice logical thinking and aptitude.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose robotics and artificial intelligence because it has a huge scope in the future. With the evolvement of artificial intelligence, the scope in the software industry has reduced significantly thus making a pathway for a course which is a combination of both electrical and mechanical as well as CSE department. Also this is the course with the least academic pressure and the easiest syllabus among all the courses. The faculties associated with this course in BIT are average but the college has a lot of robots and resources for the scores which costs over more than 2 crores.

Placement Experience:

The average package is around 7 LPA and the median package is around 5 LPA the placement here is decent. Even average students get placed at good companies. The percentage of students getting placements is around 75%. the ones who are not getting place generally have a very low CGPA or opt for business or entrepreneurship. Leading companies like Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, OneDirect, Cisco, Akamai, Microfocus, HPE, SAP, Nokia, Microchip, BEL, Mercedes Benz, Bosch, L&T- ECC and Brigade Group recruit the students.

As I am cse Student so it has to be simple and similar to coding but they include all the other waste subjects too like value engineering, uhv etc which has no relationship with cse also the teacher are ok and till the 4th sem they also include the non related subject like mechanical and electrical like subject till the 4th sem but after that it's good and related to the field of cse the teacher are ok not good not bad in knowledge also very few are very knowledgeable

Placement Experience:

The placement activities and the internship opportunities are given to all that are actively take part in it from 2nd year and those whom don't feel similar the are informed in 3rd year's last sem so the placement activities is good they gave opportunities to all those whom are interested and alsoto those too whom are not interested so I am satisfied with the placement activities

The cource is a really intresting one as you will learn about the machains and automobiles as these were my core interests the cource is even more exciting for me , coming to the faculty , they are not really as good as I expected them to be and are just not worth it

Remarks:

No, while joining this college I didn't really go through any kind of group discussion or interviews as such although we had to write KCET exam . And comming to the faculty there are few teachers who genuinely want to help u study but many professors are just there for their salary.
