Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT), Bangalore has offered private engineering education since 1979. BIT Bangalore Courses and Fees

Alongside established engineering branches, BIT teaches AI and ML, Robotics and AI, IOT and Cyber Security, VLSI Design, and Data Science. For most BE branches, the full 4-year charge is INR 12.88 Lakhs under VTU's fee regulation framework for private engineering colleges in Karnataka. MBA and MCA each cost INR 1.39 Lakhs for the complete 2-year programme. Karnataka's PGCET counselling system regulates postgraduate fees at VTU-affiliated institutions, keeping MBA, MCA and M.Tech charges low compared with private engineering colleges in other Indian states.

BIT Bangalore Admission Process

Most BE seats are filled through KCET for Karnataka-domicile applicants and COMEDK UGET for applicants from across India. Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) manages KCET counselling, while COMEDK handles its own centralised seat allocation. BIT does not hold a separate BE entrance examination.

BE eligibility and application steps

Applicants must satisfy the following academic and entrance requirements:

• Pass 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, together with Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science or Electronics.
• Secure at least 45% aggregate in PCM. The requirement is 40% for Karnataka applicants belonging to SC/ST and OBC Category-I.
• Hold a valid KCET rank for the Karnataka route or a COMEDK UGET rank for the all-India route.

1. Choose the applicable admission route and register for the relevant entrance examination.
2. Obtain the required qualifying result and rank.
3. Register for counselling through KEA for KCET seats or through the COMEDK counselling portal for COMEDK seats.
4. Enter BIT and the preferred engineering branches in the college and course choices.
5. Follow the seat allotment and admission instructions issued through the counselling process.

A limited number of BE places are available through management quota, including NRI and institutional quota seats. These admissions are handled directly by BIT and require qualifying KCET or COMEDK scores. This route also serves eligible applicants who do not receive a seat through regular counselling.

MBA and MCA entry requirements

Karnataka PGCET counselling handles MBA and MCA seat allocation. For MBA, students need a recognised graduation degree with at least 5.75 CGPA, equivalent to 50%, and a valid KMAT, CAT, MAT or PGCET score. MCA applicants must have studied Mathematics at graduation level and secured 5.75 CGPA; the stated percentage requirement is 50%.

Eligible applicants take part in the centralised Karnataka PGCET counselling process. BIT also admits MBA and MCA students directly to management quota seats when they have valid entrance scores.

M.Tech entry requirements

Students can seek M.Tech admission using GATE or Karnataka PGCET. They need a relevant BE/B.Tech degree with at least 5.75 CGPA. For Karnataka SC/ST Category-I applicants, the minimum is 5.25 CGPA. GATE-qualified students are eligible for an AICTE stipend, which can affect the choice between GATE and non-GATE seats.

BIT Bangalore Placements

The Training and Placement Cell arranges recruitment for graduating BE, MBA and MCA students. During 2025, employers made 599 job offers and offered 164 internships, with 126 companies taking part. The campus's Bangalore location helps the cell connect with IT companies, multinational companies and startups headquartered in the city.

Recruitment activity is highest in CSE, ISE and AI-ML. In Civil, Mechanical and EEE, some students prepare for GATE-based M.Tech admission or government examinations instead of joining campus recruitment. BIT Bangalore Campus and Infrastructure

Teaching takes place on a compact 5.3-acre site at K.R. Road in Chamrajpet, Bangalore. Compared with engineering colleges in suburban areas, BIT has less campus space, while its central address places students near corporate parks, technology companies and Metro connections. CSE, ECE, EEE, Civil and Mechanical departments have laboratories that meet standard VTU requirements. Recent upgrades have added specialised facilities for AI, IoT, VLSI and Robotics.

BIT has no on-campus hostel. Students generally travel by BMTC bus, auto-rickshaw or Metro; Majestic and Chickpete Metro stations are within 2 km. The library stocks textbooks prescribed by VTU and subscribes to engineering databases. A dedicated placement facility hosts company tests, group discussions and interviews throughout the year. Other facilities include a central computing centre, a VTU-certified Electronics and Instrumentation laboratory, and a sports ground used by NSS and cultural activity cells.

BIT Bangalore Scholarships

Financial assistance at BIT includes institutional merit waivers, Karnataka government schemes and central government scholarships. Karnataka-domicile students from SC/ST and OBC Category-I groups receive substantial support through state schemes. The monthly GATE fellowship helps eligible M.Tech students meet programme costs from the first year. At INR 12,400 per month, twelve months of support amounts to INR 1,48,800, compared with the total M.Tech fee of INR 1.60 Lakhs. Among these colleges, BIT's Chamrajpet campus is closest to the city centre and offers convenient travel to Bangalore's corporate areas. DSCE and RNSIT provide larger campuses and on-campus hostels, which can help students moving from outside Bangalore.
