This is the flagship program, offered to high school graduates. Admission in this program happens through 3 channels:
Among these three channels, you can opt for one or more. The minimum rank you have to secure in JEE Advanced is decided by the institute. Students who are eligible for the KVPY fellowship can directly apply through this channel and they’ll get admission if they clear their board exam cut-off. As for the students opting for SCB they have to give the IISER entrance exam.
The IISER entrance exam is based on Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Applications to apply to this program are made available online. There are certificate formats available for reserved categories which they have to fill and upload while applying for the course. You just have to go to the IISER admission portal and download that certificate separately. Application form link will be announced and will be available at the institute’s site,
You can apply for multiple channels too, but for your admission, only one channel would be considered.
This program is only available at IISER Bhopal, no other IISER campus offers this course.
The admission process for this program is the same as BS-MS integrated. You can fill up your preference for this course while filling the form online.
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree to be eligible for this program. Admission to this program will be made once a year and notice for the same will be made available between March and April.
A written exam or an interview will be conducted by the institute at the campus. In case of the candidates who are seeking admission in Chemistry should have a valid JAM(Joint Admission Test for MSc) score and candidates seeking Physics should have a valid JEST(Joint Entrance Screening Test) score.
Candidates will need to provide self-attested photocopies of your supporting documents such as grade reports/mark sheets, JAM certificate/scorecards, and SC/ST/OBC/PD/EWS certificate if any, along with the print out of the application at the time of the interview, if you are shortlisted.
The application forms for Ph.D. admission are available online at the website. You have to fill the form online and upload all the necessary documents. Links for different streams are different. Along with the form you have to upload your mark sheets, all academic records, recommendation letters in the form itself. It is mandatory to take the printout of the form pdf as it will be required during the interview.

IISER Bhopal consists of world-class faculties consisting of international and national scientists and professors. The details of a number of faculties are given below:
Ques. What package do IISER graduates get after BS-MS?
Ans. IISER is a research institute, the motto is not to just provide placements. IISER Bhopal has been working on their placement cell for some years now. To a research candidate, JRF provided is around INR 31,000 monthly. If after taking a degree from IISER and you decide to join the corporate world, you can get a salary ranging from INR 8,00,000 to INR 25,00,000.
Ques. Why don’t IISERs provide placements?
Ans. Some IISERs are developing their own placement cells so that they can provide every opportunity there is to their students, like IISER Bhopal.
Some IISERs don’t provide placements because students getting admission in this institute don’t look for placements, they aim for higher studies like Ph.D. or an MBA, or civil services.
Ques. What are the future prospects and scopes after completing BS-MS from IISER?
Ans. You can be a Ph.D. student, IISER students are readily accepted as students in leading institutes. A Research Assistant, a scientist, a teacher/teaching assistant, a public or private officer, a software developer, a freelance writer, a science communicator, a businessman, an MBA, a designer, and many more.
Ques. Can I directly get into ISRO after a BS-MS course at IISER?
Ans. IISERs don’t guarantee placement in ISRO, neither ISRO has any provision of going to the institutes for campus placements, but students apply to the vacancies and get a job there. ISRO actively looks for candidates with a strong understanding of basic Sciences. Students at IISER are trained in basic science as their prime goal is to make students good at research.
Ques. Which course is better BSc honors or BS-MS from IISER?
Ans. It depends on your career goal. BS-MS courses at IISER are focused on research more than a BSc honors degree. In India BS-MS courses at IISER are generally preferred over many courses of the same field.
Ques. Can I quit after completing my BS from IISER in order to pursue MS abroad?
Ans. Normally IISER doesn’t allow students to leave the course in between, but they have a provision named BS exit in which a candidate is allowed to complete the major project without earning an F grade and exit the integrated program. For this provision to be applicable to a candidate, he/she must have to have 5 years of residence on the campus.
Ques. What percentage do I have to get in 12th class in order to be eligible for IISER?
Ans. IISER considers candidates in the top 20 percentile, hence candidates having a percentage above 85% are eligible for admission.IISER considers students in the top 20 percentile along with their marks in IAT. There are other channels of admission too.

This college mainly focuses on developing interest on research works and academic pursuits. The course work is very hectic and heavy. We are introduced to topics that are generally of doctoral levels in order to get ourselves prepared for the research works. The academic life here is quite flamboyant as we get to explore much more things apart from formal studies. Being a college where multidisciplinary studies are always promoted, it becomes easy for us to get exposure of different research work of different domains. The faculties are one of the best in their respective domains in the nation. All of them are highly qualified with Phd and multiple Post Doctoral research experiences from abroad. Some of the faculties are alumni of esteemed universities like University of Cambridge, University of Oxford etc. The teaching method is also a bit different, they focus on more to create research interests in students than mugging up the concepts. The term exams occurs twice a semester.
Most of the students at our college opt for PhD after completion of their degrees. But the few interested in placements are hired by companies like TCS, PWC, DELLOITE etc through in campus placement drives. The eligibility criteria of placement is to have a CPI more than 8. People with less CPI also get placed through off campus placements. SDC (Student Development Council) conducts this placement drive, and many more skill development programs. Minimum package of the placement is 12 lakh per annum (as per institute norms)
Read Full ReviewCourse focuses on all fieldds of natural sciences, more tending towards research. Faculty is highly qualified and experienced, often with abroad experience in PhD's and Post Docs. Are helpfull in their respective subjects. Term exams are conducted at the mid and end of each sem. At the same time for all batches. Difficulty level and sem, exams, is easy, but includes syllabus from outside textbooks.
have not opted for internship this year. based on experience seniors and peers, getting an internship with a professor at another university is not very difficult, and if one is genuinely interested in a field, this will be more intrested.
Read Full ReviewCoursework is pretty hectic, especially the first semester which only lasts 3 months and covers a syllabus mean for 4 months. The faculties are highly qualified individuals with PhDs and several post docs from famous foreign universities.
most people here opt for PhDs and higher studies in their respective domains after the 5 year BSMS and only a few sign up for campus placement drives, where (I think) most get placed with a median package of 14 LPA (2024 passouts). The placement cell here will have more accurate data on that.
Read Full ReviewThe course Gali Gali mein is very well design for students want to do research and the faculty is also very qualified and very high positions and they are very helpful and do very much academic work and there is a is also
I had served for the basis in research college and Aishwarya name kept popping up we have to give an entrance exam for this course it's not a very hard like j level the level is pretty less KS and you can pass IC
Read Full ReviewI chose this course as it is quite different from the traditional BSc. or MSc. course. BS-MS is more research oriented, and a clear example is that the final(5th) year of the degree doesn't consist of any coursework, only the master's thesis. All faculty are highly qualified, postdoc completed at minimum and years of experience. The teaching methods differ with the course instructor, but most of the professors are great at teaching, also easy to approach and friendly. The term exams are held strictly accordingly to the timing, and there is no issue whatsoever with syllabus completion, everything is taught at the correct place while also ensuring completion. Term exam difficulty also depends per course and instructor, but generally is moderate level of difficulty.
There aren't many campus placement drives for the natural sciences degrees students, as most opt to do PhD after completing their degree, and I plan to as well. As such, there is no officially released placement data.
Read Full ReviewI chose this course because I wanted to further do Masters and Research in this field and this will act as a stairs to reach that. Most of the professors are highly qualified (most of them are PhD holders), mostly interested in research works. The semester duration is of 4 months and in these 4 months; the mid semester exams is generally taken in the months of February end and September end for Spring and Fall Semester respectively. The end semester exams are taken in the months of April end and November end in the Spring and Fall Semester respectively.
To get admission to IISER Bhopal one has to qualify IAT exam which conducted by JAC and allows admission to 7 IISER systems+ IISc Bengaluru and IIT Madras. The cut-off of exam basically depends on the number of candidates appeared for the exams, it's very dynamic. IAT exam is just on the level of JEE Mains level pattern, consists of MCQ questions with 4 different sections - Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Chemistry. One has to get a good grasp of their grade 11th and 12th to compete in this exam. Pros about the college is that, it has one of the best research facilities available in the country and the guidance given by professors are also top notch. Cons about the college is its location; it is very remotely located and and travelling cost to city is expensive.
Read Full ReviewThe Engineering science course here, felt unique to me. The curriculum is a bit different from traditional B.Tech one but still better than many other institutes. The faculty here is top notch, most of them having done Post Doctorate from foreign institutions including Max Plank, Oxford, University of California, etc. Most of the faculty teaching method is very student friendly, they always welcome questions and love solving doubts. One can also approach them after the classes for further clarification of the topic. Exams happen on a very regular basis, there are Quiz, then mid term and then the end term. One needs to consistently perform in all of them to get good grades.
Placements here are a bit on the downside. Since it is a research institute, people opt for higher studies mostly in IITs, IIMs, IISc or foreign. People here have very specific research interest and hence not interested in placement. Most of them go for research as there career pursuing higher studies from foreign institutes in Germany, Canada, USA, etc.
Read Full ReviewCourse curriculum is studying all basic science subjects for everyone including maths and biology for the whole batch irrespective of interest in it for the first two semesters, engineering students have elective of choosing bio/eco for the first two sems, in second year choose 3 subjects and in the 3rd year choose 1 subject as a major, faculties are really good and qualified, but some professors of physics and datasxience department are really saddists.
About zero placement , as it is researched based college , placement expectations on campus are totally unmatched to expectations, some students get really good placement offcampus and the tag of this college gives you an extra edge of you are interested in research
Read Full ReviewI'm in natural science this course was mandatory course for me. But we study here normal msc courses in 1 year only. And here the professor also teaches on msc level to students 1 year students. This Is 4+1 courses means 4 year BS course And 1 Year is for MS thesis.
This college is about research only and there are so many professors who got award and some professor are also the members of special society in globally. And this is the best college for who wanted to be scientist.
Read Full ReviewCourse are good enough but not that for other branches because ilike i am in engineering science then also i am studying here earth science or some thing a basic physics which i have already studied in my 11th and 12th std.
This is the research college therefore placement do not come here. Itf they come also they select some 3-4 clg only and at very low packages. Most of the people go for higher studies like phd and after that they continue research on stipend or something like that
