SMCW Pune Courses and Fees

SMCW Pune runs the MBBS programme along with 18 postgraduate programmes, divided into 13 MD and 5 MS disciplines. MBBS admission is restricted to women, while the postgraduate admission information allows both women and men. The table gives the complete General or MCC Deemed quota fee for each listed course.

The complete NRI-quota MBBS fee is INR 2.24 Crores. MBBS students must also pay separately for compulsory hostel accommodation. The Year 1 hostel charge is INR 1.26 Lakhs, followed by a 10% increase each year.

SMCW Pune Admission Process

Entrance-exam merit and MCC Deemed University counselling determine admission to SMCW Pune. MBBS applicants must qualify for NEET UG, while MD and MS applicants need a valid NEET PG score. The college does not hold a separate admission test or interview.

MBBS Admission

Every MBBS seat is assigned through MCC Deemed University counselling according to NEET UG merit. Applicants do not need Maharashtra domicile, and neither state counselling nor a management quota applies. Only women can join the MBBS programme.

• Complete 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, securing at least 50% marks. The minimum is 40% for SC, ST, and OBC applicants.
• Be between 17 and 25 years of age on 31 December of the admission year.
• Qualify for NEET UG and register for MCC Deemed University counselling.
• Choose SMCW during counselling. The NEET UG merit rank alone decides seat allotment because there is no additional test or interview.
• After allotment, report to the college within 5 to 7 days with the original documents, registration fee, and first-year tuition amount.
• Move into the compulsory on-campus hostel when reporting for admission.

During the 2025 MCC Deemed counselling cycle, the General-category closing All India Rank was 49,687. SMCW had 127 General-category seats, and the closing ranks for reserved categories were usually numerically higher, indicating a lower merit threshold.

MD and MS Admission

NEET PG rank is used to allot MD and MS seats through MCC Deemed University counselling. Unlike MBBS, the postgraduate courses accept both women and men.

• Hold an MBBS degree awarded by an NMC-recognised institution.
• Complete the compulsory 1-year rotating internship.
• Obtain a valid NEET PG score and take part in the MCC Deemed counselling rounds.
• Receive the discipline and seat according to NEET PG rank.

Dermatology, Radio Diagnosis, and General Medicine generally close at stronger NEET PG scores because they attract greater competition. Basic-science MD subjects usually have less competition and are allotted at substantially lower NEET PG ranks.

SMCW Pune Career Paths and Placement Information

SMCW Pune does not organise conventional MBBS campus placements. Most graduates continue toward an MD or MS by taking NEET PG, while other options include private hospitals, general practice, government service, research work, and overseas licensing examinations.

The women-focused MBBS programme supports a close peer network. Some alumnae also use the wider Symbiosis International University network to seek hospital and research opportunities at SUHRC or its affiliated institutions.

SMCW Pune Rankings

Since opening in 2020, SMCW Pune has not been listed in the NIRF Medical rankings. Outlook ICARE has, however, placed it among private medical colleges.

SMCW Pune Scholarships

Incoming MBBS students can compete for one scholarship offered in the college’s name. Eligible students may also use scholarship schemes available through central government portals.

SMCW Pune Campus and Infrastructure

SMCW occupies part of the green, pollution-free 350-acre Symbiosis Lavale hilltop campus on the outskirts of Pune. The same campus accommodates other Symbiosis institutions, including Symbiosis Institute of Business Management and Symbiosis Institute of Technology.

The on-campus Symbiosis University Hospital and Research Centre is SMCW’s multispecialty teaching hospital. Its facilities include modular operation theatres, intensive care units, a blood bank, MRI equipment, and CT scanners. With daily outpatient attendance above 1,500 patients, the hospital gives students experience across multiple clinical specialties.

Every MBBS student must stay in the hostel for all 4.5 academic years. The hostel provides triple-sharing rooms with attached bathrooms, while the campus mess serves vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. This compulsory residential system combines academic training and campus living within the all-women MBBS environment.

SMCW Pune Comparison with Dr. DY Patil Medical College and BVP Medical College

Students considering private deemed medical colleges in Pune may compare SMCW with Dr. DY Patil Medical College in Pimpri and Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College in Pune. Among these three, SMCW alone has a women-only MBBS policy and requires students to live in the hostel.

With 150 MBBS seats, SMCW has the smallest intake in this comparison and provides a closer women-only peer setting. Dr. DY Patil Medical College combines a larger class with management-quota admission, allowing access across a wider range of NEET ranks. Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College is an older private medical institution in Pune and has a large clinical base at Bharati Hospital. SMCW’s 2025 General-category closing AIR of 49,687 was much more competitive than the management-quota thresholds at the other two colleges.
