LLB Qualification and Minimum Marks

The qualifying qualification is an LLB degree or an equivalent examination. This is different from CLAT UG, where the qualifying level is Class 12. A BA, BCom or BSc degree without a law qualification does not satisfy the PG condition.

The published rule does not restrict eligibility to one named LLB duration. Candidates from an integrated law degree or a three-year LLB route should apply the same law-degree and marks test. Where a qualification is claimed to be equivalent, that equivalence must be acceptable for admission; a course title containing law is not enough.

There is no separate lower academic threshold listed for OBC, EWS or BPL alone. A candidate with one of those labels should not automatically use 45%. The reduced threshold applies to the named SC/ST/PwD categories.

Final-Year and Result-Pending Candidates

A candidate taking the qualifying law examination in 2027 may apply even though the entrance test is held on 6 December 2026. The admission is for 2027-28, so the December test date does not mean the degree must already be complete on exam day.

The condition returns at admission: the candidate must produce evidence of passing the qualifying examination. If that evidence is not produced, the right to be considered for admission is lost. A pending result is not the same as a waiver of minimum marks or unresolved degree requirements.

The Consortium FAQ also addresses results pending when counselling begins. It leaves the exact manner of submitting results to the NLUs at admission. Do not use the application deadline as a made-up degree-result deadline.

Nationality and Separate NLU Routes

Permission to take CLAT and eligibility for a particular university seat are not interchangeable. A candidate using a direct NRI seat route must meet that NLU's conditions and deadlines even if they have also registered for the examination.

Age, Reservation and Certificates

There is no upper age limit for CLAT PG 2027. Older age is also the first tie-breaker if two PG candidates receive equal marks; this tie rule is not an age restriction.

A reservation certificate may be obtained after applying, but it must be supplied at admission as required. The application instructions also list category certificates among uploads. Fill the actual category honestly; a missing certificate does not justify choosing a category that cannot be substantiated.

If a mismatch concerns eligibility for a reservation category, the instructions allow consideration in subsequent counselling rounds without that category. Other false information or eligibility discrepancies can lead to cancellation. This is not permission to change category freely after payment.

Before Submitting the PG Form

Select PG in the application. Once the form is submitted and paid, programme, category and BPL fields cannot be changed. Check the law qualification, category and certificate details before that point.
