I had a senior in my locality, 2019 passout, following whom I joined NSEC. I still admire him and thank him for guiding me while joining NSEC. While admission I didnt face any GD, or interview or written test, we just had a small talk with the faculty whether I want to get admitted here or not as I had to select a option from the WBJEE allotted options. Also, my admission was subject to confirmation only if I paid the first semester fees beforehand. So, it was more like, if you can afford you are welcomed. Rest time will tell. Only valid shortlisting criteria is the WBJEE and JEE main ranks, based on which students get shortlisted
The initial year are always good, with teachers really supportive, as we dont get into the core subjects in the initial years. But when the core subs come in, it just goes worse. Faculty becomes less supportive, not welcoming new mindsets of individuals, putting in comments without understanding the condition of the students and what not. Maybe this is the case only with my department. But apart from the department, everything is fun, the sports area activities, events, the staffs, all teachers of other departments, people, and undiscovered secrets around college. The teaching method cant be blamed as the university's syllabus is pretty theory based and outdated, and the teachers stick to only that, hence they also are outdated. The latest trends and practices arent done in the curriculum as per the university.
We arent allowed to go for internships from college, unless we are offered one from college or their resources. But I have seen people doing internships, without informing the college, as everyone needs experience, and cant be trapped for long
The placement scenario at our college is more or less ok-ok. With the companies looking for people with more experience, and service based hiring reducing, many students remain unplaced, and the numbers has kept on increasing since 2023. TCS, CTS reduced their number of hirings, and not many big company come during campus hirings. All company look for individuals with experience. Even if you are a fresher, having a experience will give you the job, but our college doesnt allow us for internships, so getting experience is tricky and cause problems both during off and on-campus hirings. This leaves the companies which hires to quality freshers. For the 2025 passouts, still around half of the students are unplaced. I am lucky enough to be placed by my 7th sem, leaving me ample amount of time to enjoy my final days of college, and be a little relaxed, as being unplaced in the 8th sem with majority companies already come and go, it becomes really stressful and anxiety also drives in.
Back when I joined NSEC, the college fees was roughly 4.9L for B.Tech course of regular students. First sem is 79K, 2nd sem to 4th sem is 65K, and 5th to last is 56,500 (apologies for wrong calculation). After applying, the students can apply to several scholarships like Kanyashree and SVICM, also opt for West Bengal Student Credit Card for loan. After we got admitted, the students getting admitted in the year 2022 had course fees 1 Lakhs more than ours. Even for lateral students their was a hike in prices. In year 2023 it rised upto 6.5L and students admitting in the year 2024 are having 7.3 Lakhs as the entire course fees. With time the fees is just increasing along with the course in-take capacity, but syllabus remains the same, as the university isnt adapting
The life at campus without teachers is always fun, specifically teachers of your own department. Earlier we used to have separate cultural fest for each department, but now since college has problems in financing our events (dont know why), only one grand fest happens, Mesmerizer. Rest small events do take place inviting people from other colleges, in dance, singing, sports (both indoor and outdoor) etc. Several clubs run by students are GDG On Campus, Phoenix, GNX, Sourcify, Lensified. Their is a IIC-NSEC chapter also, run by the department teachers. The library is rich enough, but after 1st or maybe 2nd year, students dont often use much of the library books, unless they are very much into research. The amenities in the classroom are good now, but it is because college improved its infrastructure for NBA and NAAC visits. Hardly ever college invested much for us, but when NBA and NAAC people came for inspecting, they renovated the college, investing all the college funds.
I do not have any idea abt hostel i just filled ir because the web is forcing me to and about internship and package theres nothing college gives you come on it’s not engineering college it’s a law college they do not provide much but the basic other things you gotta look out for yourself
Placement is I do not say that is very good but I would say that treatment is almost okay and that's up to you and lot of MNC companies came in our College group. There are internship opportunities industrial training like Euphoria ardent like this MNC and ideas
In this college we have five departments, civil, computer science, mechanical, electrical and mechanical respectively and the stops are very good and the faculties are highly qualified and they are about almost everyone is iitiab
Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.
For computer science student theyare not providing any type of placement in campus but in other department student have any placement opportunity in our collage in every year visit from TCS, APPLO, and many big and small companies
Still don't about the placements and job opportunities . I haven't even discussed with my seniors about the opportunities after the graduation we get from college.
Placements are for MSc batch only. Last year the highest package was 28LPA from Citi Bank, Gurgaon. Majorly hiring companies that come in FETSU for placements only come to maths dept in SFSU. Packages offered here are based on qualities. It decent.
