Iem is not what it seems.
Remarks :
Wbjee was the only exam I had given to try and enter a college in Kolkata. Iem was the one alloted to me via the counselling department and I for one didn't choose to be in it. There were 3 rounds to the counselling and after the end of the third round Iem was assigned to me as the college.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Ai and ml as of right now has become the epitome of human innovation and is therefore a growing field in the present and upcoming future, hence the obvious choice. The faculty of iem is sparingly qualified to speak fluent english and hence a lot of the knowledge passed down is lost to translation. And thus creates unease amongst the lowly undergrads like us.
Internships Opportunities :
No i haven't yet. Mostly because I think I lack the necessary skills for the industry as nof right now. The college seems to have provided us with online internships but their credibility is uncertain and hence inconclusive.
Placement Experience :
The college's placement is somewhat known to be good. Now it's all relative to the colleges around here, so no guarantees.As for the eligibility criteria I think they probably only allow those with a cgpa higher than 7 or 8 to participate in placement papers.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees for the btech course was 85k per year when I joined in 2023, but as of since then the fees has incremented by 10k per sem and is standing at 1.05 lac as of right now. My batch mates have the same fee structure but the upcoming new students have to pay extra amount to enroll into the same course. As for the scholarships from the college I haven't heard anything good in that regards.
Campus Life :
The social life only exists within the four walls of the classroom as the campus is pretty much non existent. There only exists a basketball ground and nothing else. So, definitely not the strong suit. Clubs don't exist either, so that's a bummer and societies are a lack luster.

Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
My experience at Shri Shikshayatan College
Placement Experience :
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.

Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.

The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.

There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.

College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
