- Some of the professors are very highly qualified and currently doing PHD so we can easily work as research intern under them
- The seniors helps us to understand the college, the academics, the fests.
- The fests that occur here are very interesting and fascinating, they are also a week long.
Dislikes
- As the campus was established in 1961 the buildings here are quite old and damage but work is going on
- The girls hostel is located in a quite lonely area
- Local are also allowed in the cameras and there are some of the areas where they come which I personal don't feel safe.
Remarks :
I entered Jalpaiguri Government engineering College in the electronics and communication engineering department with 2869 rank in the West Bengal joint entrance examination in year 2024 admission procedure was taken in the computer lab of the college which was totally online first I went for the p i reporting and directly took admission in the second round in the first round I was allotted in another college where I also completed my Pi reporting but did not take admission. There I said for upgradation in the first round. In college recently I have had to competitions one was the group discussion in college and when was the online computing examination in the BRICS computing examination iccured first rank in college and in India I secured 8th rank in the group 1st year and in group discussion I was a finalist and I also got certificate for it.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I personally choose this college because of the environment as it is in Jalpaiguri very near to Darjeeling. The faculties here are qualified and some of them are highly qualified having PHDs. My semester examinations just ended for the first semester they will from 13th of January to 17th of January I had three people basic electrical chemistry mathematics and laboratories as chemistry lab basically lab and graphics. This is the first semester subjects for ECE IT and CSE department and second semester subjects for the electrical civil and Mechanical department.
Internships Opportunities :
As currently I have just completed my first semester I am looking for internships but have not completed in internship till now. I will be to research intern in the summer break. Mini seniors have completed internship and few of them have also done paid internships in companies like Google and Microsoft.
Placement Experience :
The placements and job opportunities for the core department is nearly 100% but in the non core departments it's comparatively less the average placement package is 6 lpa only but goes as high as approx 40 lacs. The current recruiters are Bharat technologies LNT HPL and other recruiters. Many students have been already placed for this year and many interviews are currently going on. All of these are on campus placements you can also check for better opportunities in a campus by yourself according to your skills in potential.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Campus Life :
Talking about the fest we have two fests mainly that is the technical fest Srishti and the social fest Jeclat. The technical first mainly occurs in the month of November. In this way we have various technical competitions and their quite good cash prizes to which are given to us we have competitions in 3 groups mechanical, cyber and robotics. Talking about the social fest it is considered as the biggest fest of North Bengal and it has 7 days non stop enjoyment. The right dance performance music, one whole day is dedicated for dance, one whole day is dedicated from music. There are various programs like fashion show another performances. There is an annual sports day where we have both activities for both male and female candidates and it also has phrases. Talking about the club in a college there is dance club, music club, photography club, entrepreneurship and development club, hacking club, trekers club, sports club, and many more.
Hostel Facilities :
The college hostel is located inside the campus behind the administrative building. I am currently residing in the ladies hostel of the college. We have only one hostel for all year girls. The miss menia is fixed we have three days fish two nights egg and two night chicken. We also have the which alternative along the non veg meal. The food quality is good. We have common washrooms that is at the end of the corridor. In the ground floor we have only one common washroom but in the other 2 floors we have 2 at both ends and even a washing machine. The mess is inside the hostel only, in the ground floor near which the water purifier is also available. We accomodate 4 in a room.

Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
My experience at Shri Shikshayatan College
Placement Experience :
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Affordable Government Pharmacy Education with Strong Academics but Limited Industry Exposure
Placement Experience :
Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
My honest opinion on P. G. INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
Placement Experience :
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
ACADEMY OF TECHNOLOGY REVIEW
Placement Experience :
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.

Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.

College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
