Factors like affordable course, scholarship availability, good location, and reputation made me choose this college. Admission was through wbjee counselling through wbjee or jee main rank. I did not face any group discussion, interviews or written tests, apart from the entrance exam rank based counselling. Some of the bad aspects of this college are infrastructure, which could have been better for an engineering college, then very little campus space, also the low placement opportunities for core branches. The cut-offs for some of the main branches in btech for wbjee in 2024 was 6854 for cse, 11790 for aiml, 10131 for IT, 18624 for ECE, 94000 for EE, 97262 for ME, etc.
The Course Curriculum at TMSL follows MAKAUT guidelines. The academics load is balanced with labs, projects, and assignments. But there are so many assignments are given here that there remains hardly any time for our personal study. Now coming to faculties, most of them have a post graduate or PHD degree from great institutions, so although they are very knowledgeable, but only some of them actually knows how to teach. But they are approachable and supportive. Sem exams are conducted as per MAKAUT's schedule, but the difficulty level is quite high. Internal assessments, labs and attendance also contributes to final grades.
Internship opportunities at TMSL are decent. There are compulsory internships for every branch in 3rd year, but they are mostly non paid. Apart from campus drives, students also get chances to apply for off-campus internships.
In 2023, around 63% students got placed, with IT having the most almost around 91% , CSE having 90.07% and ECE having around 83% . While core branches having around 60-70% students placed. Eligible students typically start from 6th or 7th semester, provided they maintain a good CGPA (min required is >=7) and have no active backlogs. The process usually include a written placement exam, technical interviews and HR rounds. Top visiting companies are TCS, IBM, Wipro, Cognizant, Deloitte, Capgemini, Accenture, L&T, Pinnacle, Microsoft, Google, Amazon etc. The average package is mostly 4-5 lpa and min 2 lpa. The highest is around Rs 40 LPA.
The year wise fees is around 1.5 lakhs for btech, its the same for all depts, total fees of the course is around 605000 for 4 years. The tuition fees for each sem is around 80000Rs, which includes everything. The exam fee per sem is 1200Rs. There is no category fees except ews. And yes since its a private institution, the fee increases a little every year. Now for scholarships, there are numerous available like SVMCM(Swami Vivekananda) and Kanyashree, AICTE scholarships for both boys and girls etc. The college also provides TWF scheme for low income families. They also have tie-ups for educational loans with banks.
The life at campus is lively, It has active clubs like cultural club, educational, technical, literary etc which give good exposure beyond academics. The annual cultural fest called ANAKHRONOS is conducted during May or June with concerts, competitions, and performances that make campus life vibrant. There are also other smaller fests of other clubs like technical fest, educational fest etc. So the social life at TMSL is very active and good. The library is well stocked with numerous textbooks, reference books, etc ,so study resources are enough. Classrooms are equipped with wi-fi but no AC so its becomes a great problem during summers. For sports and extracurricular activities the campus encourages many competitions and games both inter colleges competition along with events like hackathon, seminars, and cultural programs.
TMSL has no hostel of his own so students have to opt for paying guests (pg) or flats. There are although many pgs available here due to decent location. Because of unavailability of hostels students have to stay in high costing pgs and flats.
Placement is I do not say that is very good but I would say that treatment is almost okay and that's up to you and lot of MNC companies came in our College group. There are internship opportunities industrial training like Euphoria ardent like this MNC and ideas
In this college we have five departments, civil, computer science, mechanical, electrical and mechanical respectively and the stops are very good and the faculties are highly qualified and they are about almost everyone is iitiab
Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.
For computer science student theyare not providing any type of placement in campus but in other department student have any placement opportunity in our collage in every year visit from TCS, APPLO, and many big and small companies
Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.
Still don't about the placements and job opportunities . I haven't even discussed with my seniors about the opportunities after the graduation we get from college.
College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
