The tag of a government college, low fees, good placements, and a beautiful and huge campus. I got admission here through my GMR rank achieved in WBJEE 2023 and through counseling of WBJEE and got ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING here.
The professors here are well qualified and knowledgable, they would clear any doubts you have and most of them are very helpful. Talking about exams, since it is an autonomous the notes and questions provided by the professors are the key to scoring a good CGPA. FEES: As it is a government college fees are quite low for noncore departments around 60k except for IT which is around 1 lakh and for the core dept you would be completing your degree within 35k rupees !!
Placements have started to grow a lot in JGEC for the past few years because of our most famous alumni STRIVER( Raj Vikramaditya). In the year 2024, one of the seniors has secured a package of 65 LPA in Atlassian and many have got in MICROSOFT and AMAZON. Talking about core departments, placements in JGEC are 2nd best to Jadavpur's(since the placements in KGEC core departments are really bad, with a placement % of 50). The placement percentage for CSE and IT is around 95% with an average of 9+LPA and for core departments Electrical performing the best with an average of 6LPA, placements of ECE are unknown to me but as I have heard it is not performing well, you could contact the departmental seniors for more information regarding placements.
You are talking about fests JECLAT is the biggest fest happening around North Bengal. It is conducted during April. The event continues for a week and on the last day, known celebrities are invited for a performance and it's amazing to experience something like that for the 1st time. Along with that, we have many clubs here for dance, singing, coding, trekking, drama, NSS, Sports clubs, EDC, AND MANY MORE which would never let you get bored during your college and help your overall development. We have a college gym as well which you could access. For books, we have a library where you can borrow books for semester exams. HOSTEL: About the hostel, there are 4 hostels every year where you can make friends and enjoy by roaming around the biggest campus of north Bengal. Hostel food is average. The hostel fee is around 16k/sem, but it could be less as well.
Placement is I do not say that is very good but I would say that treatment is almost okay and that's up to you and lot of MNC companies came in our College group. There are internship opportunities industrial training like Euphoria ardent like this MNC and ideas
In this college we have five departments, civil, computer science, mechanical, electrical and mechanical respectively and the stops are very good and the faculties are highly qualified and they are about almost everyone is iitiab
Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.
For computer science student theyare not providing any type of placement in campus but in other department student have any placement opportunity in our collage in every year visit from TCS, APPLO, and many big and small companies
Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.
Still don't about the placements and job opportunities . I haven't even discussed with my seniors about the opportunities after the graduation we get from college.
College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
