JIPMER UG Admission 2026

At the UG level, JIPMER offers MBBS along with B.Sc Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. MBBS is filled through MCC counselling using NEET UG merit, and the competition is very high because the Puducherry campus closed at OC rank 260 in MCC 2025 counselling among 24 lakh NEET UG 2025 candidates.

JIPMER MBBS Eligibility Criteria 2026

JIPMER follows NEET UG and MCC eligibility rules for MBBS. The institute does not conduct another entrance test for this course.

JIPMER MBBS Selection Criteria 2026

NEET UG 2026 rank is the only basis for MBBS selection at JIPMER. There is no interview, institute-level test, paid seat, management quota, or NRI quota.

• MCC runs MBBS counselling in Round 1, Round 2, and Stray Vacancy Round. JIPMER seats are shown in the MCC seat matrix at mcc.nic.in.
• Across both campuses, JIPMER has 243 MBBS seats: 182 at Puducherry and 61 at Karaikal.
• Puducherry UT domicile students can claim 64 reserved seats, with 48 seats at Puducherry and 16 seats at Karaikal, by using the required domicile certificate during MCC counselling.
• The MCC 2025 OC closing rank was 260 for JIPMER Puducherry and 5,731 for JIPMER Karaikal.
• Central reservation rules apply: SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NCL 27%, EWS 10%, and PwBD 5% horizontally.

How to Apply for MBBS at JIPMER?

• Register for NEET UG 2026 at neet.nta.nic.in and appear for the exam.
• After the result, complete MCC counselling registration at mcc.nic.in.
• Add JIPMER Puducherry and JIPMER Karaikal MBBS to the preference list during choice filling.
• If allotted a seat, report to the allotted campus before the deadline with original documents for verification and final admission.

Key insight: JIPMER Karaikal had an OC closing rank of 5,731 in 2025, while JIPMER Puducherry closed at 260. Students with ranks after 260 could still target a JIPMER MBBS seat at Karaikal. Both campuses follow the same INI-level MBBS curriculum and subsidised fee structure.

JIPMER B.Sc Nursing and Allied Health Sciences Admission 2026

B.Sc Nursing and Allied Health Sciences admission at JIPMER is also based on NEET UG merit. JIPMER conducts its own counselling for these UG programmes and publishes counselling notices at jipmer.edu.in.

• B.Sc Nursing and Allied Health Sciences applicants must complete 17 years of age by December 31, 2026.
• The annual fee for B.Sc programmes is INR 31,410.
• The total fee for the 4-year programme is INR 93,690.

JIPMER PG Admission 2026

JIPMER admits MD, MS, and MDS students through INI CET, the Institutes of National Importance Combined Entrance Test. AIIMS New Delhi conducts this exam for the January and July sessions, and JIPMER does not use NEET PG or MCC PG counselling for these seats.

JIPMER MD, MS, and MDS Eligibility Criteria 2026

Students applying for MD, MS, or MDS at JIPMER must qualify INI CET. For medical PG courses, an MBBS degree, completed internship, and NMC registration are required. MDS applicants need a BDS degree, internship, and DC registration.

JIPMER PG Selection Criteria 2026

• INI CET score is the only route for MD, MS, and MDS admission at JIPMER. The institute does not hold a separate interview or entrance exam.
• AIIMS conducts centralised counselling at aiimsexams.ac.in, where JIPMER seats are included in the INI CET seat matrix.
• For the July 2026 session, JIPMER Puducherry had 123 MD/MS seats across specialisations such as General Medicine (12), Anaesthesiology (11), General Surgery (10), and Obstetrics and Gynaecology (10).
• Central reservation norms apply for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwBD students. INI CET application fee is INR 4,000 for General or OBC-NCL and INR 3,200 for SC, ST, and EWS.

How to Apply for MD at JIPMER?

• Complete INI CET registration at aiimsexams.ac.in. The exam is held twice every year for January and July sessions.
• After the INI CET result, join centralised counselling and add JIPMER Puducherry or Karaikal with the chosen specialisation.
• If allotted a seat, visit JIPMER for certificate verification and report before the joining deadline with the original MBBS degree and internship completion certificate.

JIPMER DM and M.Ch Admission 2026

For super-speciality courses, JIPMER uses INI SS counselling. This route is followed by AIIMS, JIPMER, and PGIMER Chandigarh, while many other medical colleges and deemed universities use NEET SS.

• JIPMER DM and M.Ch seats are not allotted through MCC NEET SS counselling.
• INI SS is the separate super-speciality admission process used for AIIMS, JIPMER, and PGIMER Chandigarh.

JIPMER vs AIIMS vs CMC Vellore MBBS Admission Comparison

JIPMER, AIIMS New Delhi, and CMC Vellore are among the most competitive MBBS choices in India, but their counselling systems, seat numbers, and quota structures are different.

Note: JIPMER has 243 MBBS seats across its two campuses, making it the largest INI MBBS seat pool among these options. AIIMS Delhi has fewer seats and is more competitive. CMC Vellore also has Christian minority and state-domicile routes, so its admission path is not based on NEET merit alone for every seat.
