In June 1961, the National Institute of Technology (earlier REC) was established in Surat, Gujarat. The Institute was renamed Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology SVNIT in the year 2002. SVNIT offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs. The institute also offers an integrated full-time five years M.Sc program.
The admission criteria for B.Tech and M.Sc programs are based on the candidate’s academic merits and the entrance exam JEE (Mains). For the M.Tech program, the admission is based on the candidate’s GATE exam score. Admission criteria for the PhD research program are based on GATE score, written exam & personal interview. For all the programs the final process of admission is JoSAA Counselling.
