KUK Admission Dates 2027-28

Kurukshetra University is expected to start the 2027-28 admission cycle in April-May 2027. UG admission is expected to follow CUET UG or Class 12 merit, B.Tech admission is expected through HSTES counselling using JEE Main scores, and MBA admission is expected through CAT, CMAT, or MAT.

KUK Courses and Fees

The integrated BBA plus MBA is a 5-year course for Class 12 students and has a total fee of INR 3.93 Lakhs. KUK also offers a 5-year Integrated BPA plus MPA in Music. Specialised UG options include B.Sc programmes in Printing Technology, Multimedia, and Graphics Animation. B.Com (Hons), with a 3-year fee of INR 31,370, is one of the lowest-cost commerce degrees offered by a Haryana university.

KUK Admission Process

KUK admission depends on the course. B.Tech seats are filled through JEE Main and HSTES counselling, MBA uses national management entrance scores, and several UG programmes use CUET UG scores or Class 12 merit. State quota and reservation rules of the Haryana government apply to government seat allotment.

B.Tech at KUK

For B.Tech admission at Kurukshetra University, students need JEE Main 2026 scores. HSTES, which means Haryana State Technical Education Society, manages the centralised counselling process. Applicants must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and at least 45% aggregate marks, or 40% for SC/ST students. KUK offers B.Tech in 5 branches. For CSE in the General Category, the CUET cutoff is usually in the 85 to 95 percentile range, while other branches have lower cutoffs. A JEE Main rank up to 1,50,000 usually makes a student eligible for counselling.

MBA at KUK

MBA admission at KUK is based on CAT, CMAT, or MAT scores. Students must have a graduation degree with at least 50% marks. Those who are shortlisted have to attend a Group Discussion and Personal Interview. MBA specialisations include Finance, Marketing, and Human Resource. The integrated BBA plus MBA is a 5-year direct-entry course for students after Class 12.

UG (BA, B.Sc, B.Com) Programmes

For BA (Hons), B.Com (Hons), BCA (Hons), and BBA (Hons), departments use CUET UG scores or Class 12 merit. Students must apply through the KUK admissions portal. Haryana domicile students can get state quota seats at subsidised fees. Haryana government reservation rules for SC, BC-A, BC-B, EWS, and differently-abled candidates are followed in all government seat allotments.

Pharmacy (B.Pharm)

B.Pharm applicants need 10+2 with PCB or PCM and at least 45% aggregate marks. Admission is through CUET UG or merit-based counselling. NEET is not needed for KUK B.Pharm, as NEET applies only to MBBS and BDS. For M.Pharm, students need a B.Pharm degree with 55% marks, and GPAT scores are preferred.

Law Programmes

BA LLB (Hons), the 5-year law course, requires 10+2 with 45% marks. LLB, the 3-year law course, requires graduation with 45% marks. Admission to law programmes is through CLAT, CUET UG, or direct merit. LLM applicants need a law degree with 55% marks.

KUK Placements

NIRF 2025 data shows placement outcomes for Kurukshetra University's engineering, management, pharmacy, and science institutes. The placement numbers are strong for a state government university.

The PG 2-year placement count of 1,003 students is one of the higher placement counts among Haryana state universities. Computer Science and Electronics B.Tech students receive recruiter interest from IT and defence electronics companies. MBA students are placed in banking, FMCG, and manufacturing roles across North India.

Recruiters at KUK include TCS, Wipro, Infosys, HCL, Genpact, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, HPCL, BPCL, and NTPC. The Central Placement Cell handles drives for B.Tech and MBA students, while departments conduct placement work for M.Sc, M.Pharm, and MCA students. Many graduates from Arts, Humanities, and Education also prepare for Haryana government jobs through HPSC and HSSC.

Kurukshetra University is ranked by NIRF and has a strong accreditation profile among state government universities.

KUK's 35th rank in the NIRF State Public University category places it among India's leading state universities. NAAC A++ is the highest NAAC grade. In NIRF 2025, the university scored 82.33 in Governance and Outreach, one of the stronger scores among Haryana universities.

KUK Scholarships

Kurukshetra University supports students through its own scholarships as well as Haryana government and central government schemes.

Under the Earn-While-Learn scheme, students can earn money by doing administrative and maintenance work on campus. SC and BC students should apply for the Haryana post-matric scholarship through the Haryana Antyodaya Sarral Portal at the start of the academic year so that DBT disbursement can happen on time.

KUK Campus and Infrastructure

Kurukshetra University's main campus covers 473 acres in Kurukshetra, Haryana. It is located off National Highway 44 and is 3 km from Kurukshetra Railway Station. The campus is in the historic city linked with the Mahabharata and is also close to Jyotisar, the place associated with the Bhagavad Gita discourse.

The campus includes more than 40 teaching departments, Kalpana Chawla Library with over 3 lakh books and digital resources, computer centres, research laboratories, and a university sports complex. KUK also has a Sports Authority of India affiliated training centre, a press and publication division, an NCC unit, and an NSS programme with over 1,000 enrolled volunteers.

Separate boys and girls hostels are available on campus. Hostel fees are INR 12,840 per year for both boys and girls. Students also have access to two banks, ATMs, a post office, a health centre with a resident medical officer, a canteen, and a swimming pool. Kurukshetra city provides access to markets and transport, with Ambala at 60 km and Chandigarh at 90 km.

KUK vs Panjab University Chandigarh vs MDU Rohtak

KUK, Panjab University Chandigarh, and MDU Rohtak are major government universities in North India. All three offer many programmes, have affordable fee structures, and attract students from Haryana, Punjab, and nearby states.

KUK and Panjab University Chandigarh both have NAAC A++ accreditation. Panjab University has the advantage of a Chandigarh location and a larger research ecosystem. KUK offers a large 473-acre campus in Kurukshetra with a more enclosed campus setting. MDU Rohtak is a common choice for students from Rohtak, Jhajjar, and Sonipat, while KUK mainly draws students from Ambala, Karnal, Panipat, and Kaithal. Since all three have similar government fee structures, students usually compare course strength and location before choosing.
