Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET), established in 1993, is a maritime educational academy situated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is recognized by AICTE and UGC and graded ‘A’ by NAAC. It is also accredited by the SIRO and the NBA. AMET Ranking by The Week was 170th out of 245 engineering colleges in 2024. AMET offers BE, BTech, BSc, and BCom at the UG level and MBA, and ME at the PG level along with PhD and some certification courses in varied fields.

AMET offers BTech and BE courses under various specializations. For BE Marine Engineering admission, candidates must secure a minimum average of 60% in 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with a 50% minimum aggregate in English. For BTech admissions, candidates must pass 10+2 with Mathematics and/or Computer Science as compulsory subjects. The final selection is based on the JEE Main exam score. AMET fees for BTech is INR 6.32 lakhs while that for BE ranges from INR 5 lakhs for BE Mechanical Engineering to INR 13.81 lakhs for BE Marine Engineering.

AMET placement department coordinates with companies for on-campus interviews. The top recruiting companies are Maersk, Shell, Selandia, Fleet, DHL, Transworld, Beta, and HCL.

AMET University offers scholarship programs for deserving students. The Shree Janakiraman Scholarship is provided to students belonging to the economically backward section. The Meritorious Student Scholarship is provided to those who have scored more than 90% in their 10+2 with a fee concession of 15%. The Single Parent Scholarship provides a 15% fee concession for students who have a single parent and are economically poor.
