UPES admits students for 2026 through its own admission portal, admission.upes.ac.in. The university uses separate in-house tests for different streams, such as UPESEAT for B.Tech and UPESMET for MBA. Fees listed in this article include B.Tech programmes up to INR 23,30,000, MBA programmes at INR 19,11,300 or INR 21,40,100, and integrated law programmes up to INR 24,69,800.

UPES UG Admission 2026

UPES offers UG admission in engineering and integrated law through its own entrance tests and approved score-based routes. B.Tech admission is mainly through UPESEAT, while law admission is through ULSAT, CLAT, CUET-UG or Board Merit, depending on the pathway chosen by the student.

UPES B.Tech Admission 2026

B.Tech admission at UPES is offered across more than 60 specialisations in computer science, engineering, energy and design streams. Students who meet the Board Merit condition of 80% in Class X, XII and PCM do not have to take UPESEAT.

UPES uses two routes for B.Tech seat allotment. The UPESEAT route covers up to 80% of seats. The Non-Exam Pathway covers up to 20% of seats for students with qualifying board marks or national scores.

Pathway 1: UPESEAT (up to 80% seats)

  • Students register on admission.upes.ac.in and pay the INR 1,750 application fee.
  • They choose an available UPESEAT slot. The exam is online and is held every Saturday and Wednesday during active phases.
  • UPESEAT has 125 questions in 2 hours: Physics (35), Chemistry (35), Mathematics or Biology (35) and English (20).
  • Seat allotment depends on UPESEAT rank and the programme preference filled by the student.

Pathway 2: Non-Exam (up to 20% seats)

  • JEE Main: Students need at least 50th percentile in JEE Main 2026. Mathematics and Computing requires 60th percentile.
  • SAT: Students need a minimum score of 1040. Mathematics and Computing requires 1150.
  • CUET-UG: A valid CUET-UG 2026 score is accepted.
  • Board Merit: Students need at least 80% in Class X and XII, plus 80% in PCM. UPESEAT is not required for this route.

If Non-Exam Pathway seats remain vacant, those seats are shifted back to UPESEAT allotment. UPES counselling centres are available in Dehradun, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Lucknow and Patna.

Key Insight: UPES sends UPESEAT passkeys to the registered mobile number one day before the test. Students can log in during the 10 AM to 2 PM window.

Students applying for integrated law must have passed or be appearing in Class XII from any stream. UPES does not ask for minimum marks in legal subjects at the entry stage.

MBA selection has two stages. First, the student qualifies through an accepted entrance exam. Then, UPES conducts a Personal Interview, where motivation, clarity of purpose and programme fit are checked.

Accepted entrance exams and minimum cutoffs:

  • UPESMET (UPES own test, rolling online): No national exam is needed.
  • CAT 2026: Minimum 50 percentile.
  • XAT 2027: Minimum 50 percentile.

UPES Scholarships 2026

MBA scholarships are available for up to 100 to 125 seats and are given on a first-come, first-served basis. Entry-level scholarships are valid for the first year only. To renew a scholarship in later years, students need at least 8.0 SGPA, 75% attendance and no disciplinary record. The Jyoti Scholarship requires a refundable security deposit of INR 20,000.

Ques. Can a student get B.Tech admission at UPES without taking UPESEAT?

Ans. Yes. UPESEAT is not needed if a student qualifies through the Board Merit Non-Exam Pathway with at least 80% in Class X and XII and 80% in PCM. Students can also skip UPESEAT with JEE Main 50th percentile or above, or SAT score of 1040 or above. UPESEAT is needed only when these conditions are not met.
