Once an irwinite, always an irwinite.

What I Liked

The overall infrastructure is very aesthetic and peaceful.
The people here too makes you feel comfortable and confident.

What I didn’t like

The campus is quite wide so you must be good with directions.
Attendance, ssignment, assessment pressure is real.

Placement Experience:

Placements and internships are too offered by the college. A good amount of students has the chance to grab placement and internships but if anyone doesn't get that chance, they too have various options to work in.

Remarks:

I chose this college as it has a good reputation in the world and has been considered one of the top for the course I have. To take admission in the same college like me, one must give CUET and fill their preference list wisely.

Best college for home science

What I Liked

Beautiful campus, many kinds of plants trees and flowers heaven for nature lovers Many pictures spots
Labs have many experience equipments which others colleges don't

What I didn’t like

The say they have a placement cell but it is non functional there is no assistance for placement at all, not a single campus placement, they say directly you have to look for jobs yourself
There many violent Dogs in whole campus which attack many students but there is no action against them

Placement Experience:

no campus placement is offered most of the students pursue higher education like a master in food technology and a master in food and nutrition Very few got jobs but with their personal connections students take different exams like GATE and CFTRI

Remarks:

The college has good faculty and labs, practicals are taken seriously, well-known college among industries, one of the best colleges of Delhi University for this course, and Friendly for people with disabilities There were no interviews,

Good college

What I Liked

The course work was versatile and helped me grow. Besides core paper there are Skill enhancement courses which is on self development and other side skill development.
I made really good friends. College is located in really good locality so it’s safe and nice to roam around.

What I didn’t like

There’s no campus placements and options after graduation is kinda limited.
Hostel administrators are misogynists and there’s politics involved in hostel union which is very tiresome.

Placement Experience:

There’s no campus placement although it depends on teachers like our teacher helped us get internship through her personal connections . Otherwise one has to look for job on their own . Mostly people from our college go for further studies, clear net and teach at colleges only.

Remarks:

I got into the college via cutoff list released by the university of Delhi. Once my mark met the cutoff and accepted, my documents were checked and approved and I had to pay the fee. Everything happened online in the Portal web of Delhi University.

Food technician from lady Irwin college

What I Liked

The best was tha laboratories there were plenty of instruments and reagents do how many times you want and learn. The classrooms in the new building were really good fully furnished with smart board and ACs.
Campus life is the best lots and lots of programs, good fest and peace as well. The college is like a picnic spot itself with lots of greenery and flowers.

What I didn’t like

This college has a large population of home science students with only 2 sections of food technology, so there are some issues in the election as the majority is with them. Not a huge issue but it may effect someone who are interested in college elections
Some faculties will not taught you upto the mark but this happens everywhere. But the main problem is will the language barrier with some faculties as they are from north east and their English was not very clear. So this makes her lecture less interactive.

Placement Experience:

Placements after bachelors is a tough choice but college is not very active in this regards. Professor will help you grab internships in big industries like mother dairy, pepsico but placement are not provided. But now course has changed to 4 year degree in the last year which is optional you can work on your placement and develop some skills under the college itself. After BSc there is no much scope of high salaries, it will range around 2-3Lpa only. so go for higher studies if you can for hikes. I will prefer exploring government sector as they will pay you way better than private with a bachelor's degree. You can get a very reputed job as a food safety officer in fssai . Many of my friends opted for dietician and nutritionist as well . There are plenty of options in private and government sector.

Remarks:

I was initially searching for reputable colleges offering food tech programs when I learned about Lady Irwin College, which offers a 3-year BSc Hons in Food Tech. There were 3-4 other colleges in DU offering similar programs, but I preferred Lady Irwin because it ranked above all other options.During my college hunt I discovered that a lady in my neighbor had completed her BSc in food tech from Ramjas College, DU, and her MSc in food&nutrition from Lady Irwin itself. She provided valuable guidance throughout my admission & advised me to choose Lady Irwin over other . I enrolled in 2020 when admission was solely merit-based (with a cutoff of 92% in the first list), and an additional 3% was given to students who perused PCMB in their 12th. The admission procedure was entirely online due to COVID that year, which made enrollment easy.However, the admission process has now changed significantly. Applicants must now clear a common entrance exam (CUET) to be considered for the merit list.

Graduation at Lady Irwin College

What I Liked

Infrastructure: We had AC labs (some of them), library (ac room was only for PhD students), fully functional labs and smart boards.
Faculty: All the teachers were lovely and helpful. They literally taught us from zero.

What I didn’t like

Hostel: The hostel was such a mess. There were no AC, no cleanliness and was over expensive.
Classrooms: Porta classrooms were terrible specially during summer.

Placement Experience:

There is no provision for placements. Since it was a bachelor's course, students were free to look for internships on their own. A lot of students did it by obtaining contacts from their connections.

Remarks:

I chose a bachelor's degree in Food Science at Lady Irwin College. This course is designed for those who want to pursue a career in food science and become a Nutrition, Diet, or Food technologist. We had a lovely campus and great faculty. The bad part about this course was the limited options for higher studies. During my time admissions were solely based on merit. There were no interviews/ tests. But now they are taking students from CUET.
