Jadavpur University has a long history of Engineering, Science and Arts education in Bengal. Due to it's high ROI, Low fees, Lushy Green Campus and Top Notch professors it always remain a top choice for people who write WBJEE. I have several relatives who are alumni of JU and are well established in life, so when I got JU in decentralised counselling - it was an obvious choice for me. YOu have to appear for WBJEE that is based on the Physics, Chemistry and MAth syllabus of 10+2. MCQ based exam similar to JEE Main. After getting your rank - you have to go for counselling and after 2-3 months a separate counselling organized by JU that is known as Decentralized councelling where you have to appear in the college with all your docs on given date. Based on rank seats are alloted.
My course is B.E. Civil Engineering. It deals with building structures, bridges, transportation systems as well as solid waste management, waste water treatment, water resources, soil mechanics, valuation- pricing- costing and Surveying. Course curriculum is interesting but can make you feel hectic sometimes. Professors are mostly helpful. They all have done their PhD from either JU or IIEST or IIT. No attendance criteria is there for theory classes. But attending labs and sessional classes are mandatory. 2 class tests following by a semester exam are conducted in each sem. Apart from that for each sessional and lab class you have to submit individual reports and have to appear for Viva-voce. Industry relevant softwares are being taught. Academic tour to relevant industrial place is also organized by the department.
For internship many companies visit our campus. Example - Accenture, Exxonmobil, PWC etc. Apart from that you can go with government body training programs like - KMDA, PWD, RITES, WBSEDCL etc. I was summer intern at Kolkata Metropolitan development authority (KMDA) for 1.5 months. I worked in a Bridge project.
People with 6+ average cgpa are eligible for campus placement. Tons of core, IT, consultancyand finance company visits our campus. (eg Core - Relience, Bajaj, Honeyell, TCE, Airbus, Pidilite, L&T, TI etc, IT and Consulting- Gupshup, Deloitte, PwC, Polestar, EY, Deutsche Bank etc) In our department the highest package was offered by IDFC bank - 23LPA Average is 7LPA Last year from Civil 97.5% people were placed. Mechanical, IEE, CSE showed 100% placement

As it is a State Funded university with all the Engineering, Science and Arts faculty in 55 Acres campus..... fest becomes a common thing. Three annual cultural fests namely "Sanskriti" are organized by three different faculties (Engg, Science, Arts). There is a Open Air Theatre and 4-5 auditoriums in the campus. Apart from that there is Techno-Management Fest organized by Engg Faculty namely "Srijan". There are lots of clubs in JU to enhance your industry relevant skills, communication, team management and event organizing skill. Some famous clubs of JU are - Motorsports Club, Science Club, Aerospace Club, Code Club, Mountaineering Club, Dance Club, Painting Club, Photography Club etc. Annual sports events like are organized. There is a huge playground, gymnasium (with free trainer).
I haven't opted for Hostel. After the recent incident of student suici*e from JU main hostel, first year students are alloted separate hostel in the campus. The Main Hostel (Boys) is 1km away from the main campus. So there is no issue of ragging in the campus. But you may face unpleasent behaviour from seniors in main hostel. One thing I can assure, the connection and bonding you will make if you stay at hostel would be timeless. Rest you can go for Rent, PG. In my case I recide at a PG where food isn't included (Rent is 2250 per month). There are plenty of hotels and home delivery services around the campus. No issue regarding that.
Placement is I do not say that is very good but I would say that treatment is almost okay and that's up to you and lot of MNC companies came in our College group. There are internship opportunities industrial training like Euphoria ardent like this MNC and ideas
In this college we have five departments, civil, computer science, mechanical, electrical and mechanical respectively and the stops are very good and the faculties are highly qualified and they are about almost everyone is iitiab
Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.
For computer science student theyare not providing any type of placement in campus but in other department student have any placement opportunity in our collage in every year visit from TCS, APPLO, and many big and small companies
Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.
Still don't about the placements and job opportunities . I haven't even discussed with my seniors about the opportunities after the graduation we get from college.
College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
