Likes
- Campus, Library, Classrooms, clean washrooms, decent Canteen/MESS, Common Rooms for both boys and girls, including activities like Table-Tennis and Carrom are good things about the college.
- Faculty is decent, well qualified, experienced and cooperative with the students.
Dislikes
- Confusing Architecture, Uniform, ID Card, Anti-Bread Policy, Apparatus in Laboratories are some major cons of this college.
- Some faculty might create problems for you. ₹500 fine on not maintaining 75% Attendance per subject. Are some other cons of this college.
Remarks :
The location of this college is actually good. The campus is also decent. Easy or no travelling expenses for me. Good Faculty and familiar crowd of students. And last their past placement record is main attraction of this college.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I always wanted to become a software engineer. Speculating the increase in demand of AI & ML, I opted this course. The faculty of this college are mostly PHDs and PGs. Their teaching is okay. Exam are according to MAKAUT. Laboratories, Library, Canteen and Campus is good. Unfortunately there has been a few hike from the year 2023, approximately of 2 Lakhs. That would change the fees from 4 Lakhs to 6 Lakhs for the term of 4 years . You can also take admission through Student Credit Card. You can also apply for WBMFC, SVMCM, OASIS scholarships for your education.
Internships Opportunities :
Earlier there has been some internships from Cognizant and TATA Power majorly, for 4th, 5th & 6th semester students only. Placement interviews and tests for 7th & 8th semester students mainly conducted by the collaboration of companies and the college placement cell.
Placement Experience :
Eligibility Criteria for placements is Passing in all semesters. Cognizant being the mass recruiter in the past. There has been drop in placement rate from 89% to 78%, due to the IT Recession. But it can improve to 90% after the global recession in IT. My plans after my degree is to grab a placement from my college and work as a professional in the field of AI.
Campus Life :
Coding Contest in March. Annual Sports Competition during December-January. Including Cricket, Badminton, table tennis and Football competitions in the winter, for both boys and girls. Classrooms have CCTV, a Projector, a Clock, and a Greenboard. Library having novels and publications of famous authors only. Daily magazines and newspapers are available. Coursebooks can be issued by the library without any charges. Groups/Clubs for cultural and creative events. IEEE for technical and events related to engineering is run by the cooperation of both teachers and students. The college provides no hostel facility, although affordable PGs are available near the college. Areas like Khidderpore, Alipore, Sealdah & Chetla provide PGs at a fair amount.

Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
My experience at Shri Shikshayatan College
Placement Experience :
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Affordable Government Pharmacy Education with Strong Academics but Limited Industry Exposure

Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.

Placement Experience :
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.

There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.

Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.

College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
