Remarks :

For admission to NIT Durgapur, a student has to qualify the joint entrance examination. According to rank and preference, seats are allotted through counselling organized by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority and the Central Seat Allocation Board. The cutoff for general category students is usually around AIR 60000. You can decide the order of preference depending on your placement or academic preferences, I'd say most of the preferred departments like CSE, ECE, electrical, mechanical, metallurgy have good placement stats and provide a great foundation for research. Biotechnology also has great research mentors. The college also has a good campus and facilities, especially the new academic building, central library, and research building. The hostel facilities are also above par especially for newer and girls hostels. The mess facilities however are average. The college is a good fit with great campus culture if you cannot get a much higher preferred NIT according to your JEE rank.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum for mechanical is at par with recent trends with constant modifications to align with emerging industry and research trends. Most faculty are well qualified and trained in modern methods of instruction with plenty of visual as well as lecture material, and try to impart sound education to students. Some faculty members do emerge with whom you develop a bad bonding or whose classes you find unfulfilling. But most faculty are open to help with coursework, research guidance or placement talk as long as you're respectful and show genuine motivation. Exams are regular with a mid term of 25 marks and an end term of 60 marks. 15 more marks are added based on class tests, attendance and assignments, and each course is evaluated out of 100 marks. The grading here is absolute and your semester grade is given in terms of a cumulative grade point average.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes I have applied for research internships in my second year at other IITs and NITs. The internship culture is well built with a number of companies recruiting on campus interns with a significant number of them receiving pre placement offers. Multi national companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, Reliance, PWC, JP Morgan Chase and others offer on campus internships to students. The research internship culture is also well fostered with a number of students interning at IISc, and top IITs.

Placement Experience :

All students with no active academic backlogs or disciplinary actions against them are eligible for on campus placements. The campus Placements are good although they have fallen in the current year. As per the 2023-2024 reports, the highest package offered was 51 lpa, with the average package being 11.58 lpa. Total offers made were 600+ for a batch of around 900, with 120+ summer interns. Overall placement percentage was around 75% which is average. Major recuiters include Microsoft, Samsung, Amazon, Flibkart, PWC, JIndal, Alstom transport, Oracle, JP Morgan, Wells Fargo, Hero Motocorp, ICICI Bank among others.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

During admission, general category students were required to pay a total fee of Rs 1,13,100 including tuition fees, institute development fee, caution money and others. From the second semester onward, we are required to pay a total of 82,800 per semester (for 7 semesters). This includes a tuition fee of Rs 62500, Rs 2000 as laboratory fee, Rs 1200 as library charge, Rs 3000 as computing and internet charge, Rs 1200 as examination fee, Rs 1700 as electricity and water charge, Rs 1700 as maintenance charge, 2000 as student activity fund, 1000 for insurance and healthcare, 100 towards employee welfare fund, 200 as student aid fund, 5000 as hostel fees rent, 1200 as hostel establishment charge. Additionally, a mess fee of 19000 is to be paid per semester. Students with yearly income between 1-5 lpa avail 2./3rd concession on tuition fee and those from the SC, ST, physically handicapped and annual income below 1lakh categories pay no tuition fees, i.e. a concession of 62500 on the total.

Campus Life :

There are two main fests, Recstacy, the annual cultural fest and Aarohan, the annual techno-management fest. They are usually held around February and March in subsequent months. The library is very well stocked with a good collection of up to date books and journals along with air conditioned reading rooms. Classroom are well equipped with microphones, projectors and air conditioners. However classrooms in the older main academic building and ill ventilated. There are loads of sports activities and extracurriculars including over 20 clubs. The clubs are student run with faculty advisors and range from art, debating, music, dance, Indian and western culture, photography, dramatics and debating to technical topics like robotics, AI, competitive programming, coding, development and entrepreneurship. They have their own events, workshops and fests, like Virasat, the annual Indian cultural fest, Vistaar, Verve and E-summit, the annual entrepreneurship fest.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostels are compulsory at NIT Durgapur. The rooms are good and airy. They are allotted on a triple sharing basis to Indian nationals and single or double sharing to international students. Rooms are clean, big and well ventilated, especially for newer hostels and girls hostels. The bathrooms and common areas are well maintained, with sports facilities in hostels. The sports facilities in girls hostels are however, fewer. The mess food is edible and the menu has a good variety, with some days and meals being better than others. Mess areas are sometimes left dirty during rush hours. The mess fee per semester is Rs 19000 and hostel fee is included with the total semester fee.

BCREC A ENGINEERING COLLEGE

Course Curriculum Overview :

Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.

My experience at Shri Shikshayatan College

Placement Experience :

We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.

Affordable Government Pharmacy Education with Strong Academics but Limited Industry Exposure

Placement Experience :

Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.

My honest opinion on P. G. INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES

Placement Experience :

The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.

ACADEMY OF TECHNOLOGY REVIEW

Placement Experience :

There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.

College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
