My college life in NIT Durgapur

- I like that there will be no powercut in the college and the weather is also cool compared to other colleges and I. Like the clubs and fest here. Faculty are also so friendly here. Campus Life is so much better and many students are from Bengal here so we can learn other languages also. We have more than 4 canteens for eating and enjoying and we have seperate sports zones for each sports
- We have 2 auditoriums and seperate building for every branch. our college is spread over 200 acres with makes ous to roam more and malls are nearby only with walkable distance. All these are making me more liking my college
Dislikes
- I only don't like that in summers we have some water problem for 1 to 2 days that's it all are good.
- Some times the mess food is not nice these are the only things I don't like in my college
Remarks :
I have written jee mains examination in 2022 and have got 55000 open category rank and got mechanical engineering in my college. We need to pass this examination to get qualified for any NITs. For that rank, I got electrical engineering and chemical engineering in many other colleges with nrif ranking more than my college but I opted for this because mechanical engineering in Durgapur has a place name and recognition. It is well named because it has an mechanical institute of learning opposite to my college. And there are many factories near my college so we can have more placements. I opted this branch because it has equal students opting for mechanical engineering same as CSE. Like many bigger institutes mechanical engineering placement statistics is also very good with a placement record of 90% nearly and it is increasing. Mechanical engineering in my college has a special place than other branches. Cutoff can be from 14k onwards for obc category and can be up to 20k.
Course Curriculum Overview :
All the professors are highly qualified and highly educated. Many of them have completed their pg and higher education, some of them are from abroad also. For every 5 students, there will be a teacher to check on them. For the 1st 2 and half months a mid-term examination is held and later in the 5 th months, an end term examination is held. And 1 month's holiday in December is given due to cold weather conditions and 2 months summer holidays from May to July is given. The fees vary with the category we have chosen for obc with an income certificate below 1 lakh the tuition fee is 16k and mess fees is 19 to 20k and above 1 lakh it range from 34k to 72k. Hostel fees is the same for everyone. And for the general category, it is 74k. For sc and sts it is the same as obc of below 1 lakh as 16300. All these are per semester only not for the whole year. I'm paying 16k as I'm obc. Some scholarships like Sitaram Jindal and reliance scholarships are beneficial for students from 1st year onwards
Internships Opportunities :
Many internships like Reliance and Deolite have come to us. The stipend varies with ur course and the company for reliance is giving 20k per month. The roles can be like an electrical engineer, etc. we have many factory tours, industrial visits for core students also as and internships. Projects and tasks are based on the role and their branch.
Placement Experience :
Placement statistics can be checked from our college website. Last year 2023 placements have been very good with more than 90% placed for many branches and the average package being 12lakhs, the criteria is that we should have 7cgpa or more to sit in the placements and many internships are there to get placed easily. More than 150 companies visit the campus for placements. Some of them are tata, Amazon, deolite,hpcl, Flipkart etc. last year the highest package is 50lakhs and avg is 12 lakhs. We can also opt for higher studies if not interested in placements. Off compus opportunity is also more. Last year we have a student who got equal package as in campus placement student. Many students from core can get jobs easily because we have so many factories nearby our college only. Placements have been improving year by year. For CSE avg package is 20 lakhs and for electrical it is 14 lakhs and for mechanical it is 11 lakhs. For courses like mme also it is good with more than 70% placed.
Campus Life :
My college have vast clubs for educational and social purposes also like nss, technical clubs like SAE, IEEE,ISTE, eco clubs like prakriti, extracurricular clubs like spic macay, dance club etc. biggest fest of our college is arohan the biggest tech club after iit Kharagpur in the south India and conducted generally in the month of feb and recstacy gives the fest of enjoyment it is in may. We have the biggest library with more than 1k of books. All the classrooms and Library is with ac and with no powercut also with generator service. For hostels boys have more than 10 hostel for their 4 years and girls have 4 hostels. Every hostel room have 3 beds with 2 fans and 3 almirahs,3 study tables chairs and 3 shoe racks Registration process is as simple as we should give the fee receipt and our bank and college I'd details to the warden to avail the room. the mess is also good to eat and menu is set by sending polls to the students and they have to opt their fav food and the warden fix it.

Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
My experience at Shri Shikshayatan College
Placement Experience :
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Affordable Government Pharmacy Education with Strong Academics but Limited Industry Exposure
Placement Experience :
Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
My honest opinion on P. G. INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
Placement Experience :
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
ACADEMY OF TECHNOLOGY REVIEW
Placement Experience :
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.

Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.

College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
