Since this is the best law college, several top firms take in NLSIU students, placements are not commonplace however. Internships are compulsory and the college will provide companies to intern with, the student must simply mail the company and will get accepted based on availability
NLSIU is ranked (currently) as the no. 1 law college in the country. Admissions are decided based on students’ results in the written CLAT examination. I prepared for this exam by regularly attempting mock papers and keeping up with current affairs (for the general knowledge segment of the paper). For general category students, a rank of 200 and below is enough to get admission. The CLAT examination is multiple choice and marked out of 150.

There is the Common Law Admission Test(CLAT) that I gave which got me admission into the college. There were no such interviews or group discussions- admission is just based on the clat exam and there are 300-350 seats for the same.
Read Full ReviewI've low experience with the placement and job opportunities. Kids who work hard get placements. I intend to pursue UPSC, with placements as my backup. 1st year B.A. LL.B students are mandatorily required to get an NGO internship. The kids are also free to pursue any internships in their free time themselves. Career Services shares internship opportunities on the students college email IDs.
Admission into NLSIU can only be availed through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). NLSIU has 300 seats, a specific percentage of which are reserved. Caste-based reservation is vertical, and gender-based reservation is horizontal (reservation within reservation). I chose NLSIU as it is the number 1 law college in India. It was also far from my hometown, providing exposure. Bengaluru is also famous for its great weather. I joined LegalEdge in 2022 to prepare for CLAT 2024 and ace it. NLSIU is the best law college in India. The only bad aspect is that it has a heavily academic atmosphere. It's a gathering for scholarly minds.

No. 1 law college of the country, have to crack CLAT entrance exam and be in the top 100 rank to get admission in the college. Extreme academic rigour in the college which leads to long sleepless nights.
Read Full ReviewNLS has always had a good placement record. Almost everyone from the batch is placed with a law firm or a company. Top-tier law firms such as CAM, SAM, Trilegal, AZB, Khaitan, Saraf, Indus, Veritas, ICUL etc. offer internships and PPOs to the students. For our batch, about 40 students have already received PPOs and about 45 students are sitting for placements. Last year, about 30 students sat for placement and several offers were made to students. The average package offered is 17 lakhs while the highest goes up to 24 lakhs. I have got a PPO from Trilegal and will be joining the firm's corporate practice next year.
NLS has consistently topped the NIRF rankings of law colleges for several years now. During my prep for CLAT which is the examination through which admission to national law universities takes place, I heard a lot about NLS, its well-defined course structures, the rigour that the students are trained through and the opportunities that are opened up for the students in their future careers. About the CLAT exam: The exam was of 150 marks and has five sections including English, GK, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Maths. The difficulty level of the exam is moderate. A rank list is published through which the admission process to different colleges is decided. Further, there are no other steps involved such as GD or interviews. The cut-off in 2020 for NLS was around 90. Preparation: I joined a coaching centre called Career Launcher for class prep. It provided sufficient prep materials for CLAT prep of all five sections.
