MIT Manipal offers B.Tech in 20 specialisations, and the total fee changes by branch. CSE, ECE, Mathematics and Computing, and FinTech have the highest listed fee, while Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, EEE, and some other core branches are placed in the lower fee group.

At the postgraduate level, MIT Manipal offers 25 plus M.Tech specialisations. These include Data Science, Cyber Security, VLSI Design, Embedded Control, Industrial Automation and Robotics, Machine Intelligence, Electric Vehicular Technology, Construction Engineering and Management, and Avionics. These options are spread across the institute’s major engineering departments and research areas.

MIT Manipal Admission Process

MIT Manipal admits students through different routes depending on the programme. B.Tech admission is mainly based on MET or JEE Main, while postgraduate and doctoral programmes use GATE, MAHE entrance tests, merit, written tests, and interviews as applicable.

B.Tech Admission

For B.Tech, students usually appear for MET, an online test of 2.5 hours that covers Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English. MAHE also accepts JEE Main scores for direct admission when students meet the qualifying percentile decided for that year.

• Eligibility: 10+2 or equivalent with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), minimum 50% aggregate
• Entrance: Valid MET rank or JEE Main score from session 1 or session 2
• DASA scheme: Open to Non-Resident Indian (NRI) and foreign national applicants
• Counselling: MAHE conducts centralised counselling, and seats are allotted by MET/JEE rank and branch preference

Across branches, MET 2026 cutoff ranks were in the range of 4,255 to 54,762. CSE had the toughest cutoff, while Civil Engineering had the most relaxed cutoff. Students with strong JEE Main scores, usually 90+ percentile in PCM subjects, can get direct admission without taking MET. M.Tech and MCA Admission

For M.Tech admission, MIT Manipal gives preference to GATE-qualified students. MCA admission is through MAHE’s MCA entrance test or NIMCET score.

• M.Tech eligibility: B.Tech in a relevant discipline with minimum 50% marks
• MCA eligibility: BCA, B.Sc in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics, with Mathematics at degree or 10+2 level
• GATE-qualified M.Tech students can receive an MHRD stipend of INR 12,400 per month

PhD Admission

MIT Manipal offers PhD programmes through all its departments. Admission takes place twice a year through a written test and interview.

• Eligibility: M.Tech or M.Sc with minimum 55% marks; JRF/NET holders may be exempted from the written test
• Modes: Full-time and part-time options are available, and many departments accept industry-sponsored candidates
• Research support: DST, CSIR, AICTE, and DRDO-funded positions are available for eligible doctoral candidates

MIT Manipal Placements

MIT Manipal’s 2025 placements closed with a highest package of INR 69.25 LPA. The average package stood at INR 12.31 LPA, the median package was INR 10.05 LPA, and the overall placement rate across branches was 86%. More than 300 companies joined the placement process.

CSE and ECE students usually receive the strongest packages and placement rates. Mechanical, Civil, and Chemical Engineering students see lower average packages, generally in the INR 5 to 8 LPA range, but continue to get opportunities in manufacturing, infrastructure, and core-sector companies. Microsoft, Amazon, Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, Infosys, TCS, and Cognizant are among the confirmed recruiters. Some graduates also choose higher studies in India or abroad, including M.Tech through GATE at NITs and IITs, as well as admission to international universities.

MIT Manipal Rankings

MIT Manipal is ranked 59th in NIRF Engineering 2025 with a score of 52.55. MAHE, its parent university, has the highest NAAC grade, A++. All B.Tech programmes have NBA Tier-I accreditation, and selected programmes also hold ABET international accreditation.

The NIRF score shows MIT Manipal’s performance in areas such as Teaching, Learning and Resources and Outreach and Inclusivity. The institute has remained within the top 100 of the NIRF Engineering ranking since the framework began. MAHE is also listed in the QS World University Rankings, which reflects research output from its constituent institutions, including MIT.

MIT Manipal Scholarships

MIT Manipal provides institutional merit scholarships and also helps eligible students use central and state government scholarship schemes.

GATE-qualified M.Tech students get a monthly stipend of INR 12,400 from the Ministry of Education. Students from SC/ST, OBC, and economically weaker section backgrounds can apply through the National Scholarship Portal and the Karnataka Backward Classes Welfare Department portal to improve their chances of support. MAHE also has need-based institutional aid for students who face financial difficulty during the programme.

MIT Manipal Campus and Infrastructure

MIT Manipal is located in Manipal, a university town in Udupi district, Karnataka. The MAHE Manipal campus works like a self-contained township, with academic blocks, hostels, hospitals, sports spaces, banking, shopping, and recreation available within walking distance. The campus is in coastal Karnataka, about 60 km from Mangalore and 400 km from Bengaluru.

The academic facilities include more than 200 laboratories across departments, a central computing centre with high-speed connectivity, and specialised spaces such as an aeronautical engineering hangar, a seismic testing lab, a VLSI design centre, and an embedded systems and robotics lab. MIT also has an AICTE IDEA Lab on the MAHE campus for student innovation and prototype work.

Hostel facilities are available for more than 6,000 students in separate blocks for male and female students. Annual hostel fees range from INR 1,01,500 to 2,03,000 for male students and from INR 97,500 to 2,03,000 for female students, based on room type. The sports complex has facilities for cricket, football, basketball, badminton, and swimming. MIT’s major technical and cultural events include TechTatva and Revels at the MAHE level, both of which draw large student participation in South India.

MIT Manipal vs VIT Vellore vs BITS Pilani

Students with good MET and JEE Main scores often compare MIT Manipal with VIT Vellore and BITS Pilani. These three private engineering institutions attract students from across India and offer campus-based learning, active student communities, and strong alumni links in the technology sector.

BITS Pilani has a stronger NIRF rank and a higher average placement package, along with BITSAT as a more selective entrance route and lower fees when compared with placement returns. VIT Vellore has a very large student intake among private engineering institutions in India and performs strongly in IT services placements. MIT Manipal stands out for its residential campus experience in Manipal town. Students who get admission options in all three usually decide by branch availability, campus preference, and budget, along with academic quality.
