Hostel is very expensive but they do justify the price, food is not small, it is spacious and the facility is great Food quality is decent, better than other Colleges. We get chicken every alternate day, and it is good.
Campus life at manipal is great. Intime of college is 11pm and hostel is 11:30, for seniors. For juniors it is 10:30. Food is relatively cheaper, the only problem is auto rate are relatively expensive. Other than that there are many clubs here, which are always crowded by students only

One of our hostel ( BLOCK-10) is the second largest hostel in India. Food quality of the mess is also above average and the menu is too vast. You get 4 meals a day of different menus on different days. Special menus are there on sundays. Registration process for the hostels are very simple for the freshers as they get the room of their choices in the first year subject to availability of the rooms, you have to apple for the preferences and after the counselling, you are allowed with the hostel and also you can change it anytime. From second year onwards, Hostels are provided upon your academic performances and it keeps changing. I lived outside campus for the rest 2 years. The famous localities are Vidyaratna Nagar, Eshwar Nagar and some of the famous localities are Mandavi Emerald. The student life outside is also very good.

Life at campus is awesome. Something or the other always happens at the student plaza. Technical fests like TechTatva occurs during the months of October/November. And cultural fests like Revels in which singers like Mohit Chauhan, Javed Ali, Salim Sulaiman etc have performed. This happens during the months of February. Library has all kinds of books, very diverse, books are in good condition. There are many student projects and clubs that you can be a part of. I suggest you try each one of them and find your interests. But the campus security guards have a problem with the students. They don't let students sit at any sitting location inside campus. Their explanation is always "Director's order". The reason is unknown.

Food provided at the mess becomes repetitive and students often tend to eat out or block their mess card on a temporary basis.

Read Full ReviewThere are many messes in the campus so that students can have a mess closer to their hostel block. There are 2 mess providers- The Indian Kitchen and Quess. Food prepared by The Indian Kitchen is better than that of Quess but the ambience in Quess mess(FC1) is much better. The infrastructure is very good and if there is any kind of problem in the room, the caretakers are present to address it and is usually resolved in 2-3 days. To apply for the hostel rooms go to hostel.manipal.edu and sign in to opt in or out of the hostel allocation process. The cost of the room depends on what type of room you pick, the options include double ac attached bathroom, double non ac, single ac and single non ac. There is also option for common bathroom which is way cheap.
The life in the campus is very good. There is a place called the student plaza and it is the most socially active place as it has shops and food joints. The students come here everyday for food and meetups. There are 2 fests in this college- techfest and cultural fest. The name of the techfest here is TechTatva and the cultural fest is Revels. In the techfest, many technical clubs organize various events and talk shows whereas in the cultural event, the cultural clubs keep our mind off the studies. The main event of these 2 fests is that in TechTatva we call founders and CEOs of well established companies to guide the students on their career paths. In Revels, we bring many artist and creators for a concert show to create a good vibe and enjoy. All the sports facilities are here including gym, boxing ring, squash, swimming pool, indoor basketball court, etc. Everything is present in the sports facility named "Marena". Campus teams are also there and we have our own cricket league.
Read Full ReviewThe hostels at MIT are one of the best I can say across Indian colleges as you have a wide variety of accommodations to choose from. Ranging from single rooms to common dorms, you can be sure to find living accommodations to suit your needs. As far as the affordability is concerned, it is quite affordable based on the mess and utility charges being a per-month deduction basis. So basically you pay a hostel fee at the start which includes a mess and utility advance and every month, the used amount is deducted from the advance and leftover funds are rolled over to the next academic year. The mess is decent and serves fresh food which is focused on being healthy. the only downside of the mess is you have a fixed weekly menu so it gets a bit boring sometimes. But there are special dinners every once in a while.
The social life at MIT Manipal is one of the best that any college in India can offer to a student. The number of cultural and technical clubs along with a ton of student projects offer a wide variety of activities for students to engage themselves in post-college. Apart from all of this, the annual cultural fest, Revels is usually held in March where a footfall of around 10000 students is seen across the 4-day festival bringing a vibrant life to campus. The technical fest, Techtatava is held in September where geekheads compete in various innovative challenges designed to ignite critical thinking. Overall the social life at MIT is something to look forward to.
