UIET Chandigarh Admission Process

BE Admission

Applicants to the BE programme must have studied Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in Class 12. The required aggregate is at least 60 per cent for General Category applicants and 45 per cent for SC/ST applicants. Admission depends entirely on the JEE Main score and is handled through JAC Chandigarh.

  1. Appear for JEE Main and obtain a valid score.
  2. Register through the JAC Chandigarh counselling portal.
  3. Enter and lock the preferred colleges and engineering branches.
  4. Take part in the centralised online seat-allotment rounds.
  5. After receiving a seat, report to UIET for document verification.

The seat matrix includes UT Chandigarh domicile, All India (CBSE), NRI or NRI-sponsored, and Defence under UT domicile categories. Seats within the UT Chandigarh domicile quota are allotted first.

ME and M.Tech Admission

A relevant BE or B.Tech degree with at least 60 per cent marks is required for ME and M.Tech admission. The minimum is 55 per cent for SC/ST applicants. UIET first considers candidates who hold a valid GATE score in the appropriate engineering discipline. If seats remain after accommodating GATE-qualified applicants, non-GATE candidates may be selected through the PU CET (PG) merit list.

  1. Apply to UIET with the relevant GATE or PU CET PG score.
  2. Wait for the institute to publish the merit list.
  3. Attend document verification when shortlisted.
  4. Join spot-round counselling if vacant seats remain.

Ph.D. Admission

For Ph.D. admission in Engineering, applicants need an ME, M.Tech, or equivalent postgraduate qualification. They must also qualify through GATE or the Panjab University Research Entrance Test (PURET). Shortlisted applicants present a research proposal before a departmental committee. Panjab University announces Ph.D. intake rounds periodically.
