TNEA 2024 Counselling Round 3 Joining Starts: Check B.Arch Allotment, Process & Required Documents

The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) has started TNEA 2024 Round 3 joining the allotted colleges on August 28, 2024. Download the tentative allotment order from the official website tneaonline.org. Log in with your email address and password to download the allotment order. Report to the TFC with all necessary documents by September 1, 2024. If you decide on upward movement, the tentative allotment result will be released on September 4, 2024.

  • TNEA 2024 Round 3 tentative allotment list was released on August 26, 2024. You can check the allotment status on the Login Portal with your email ID and password. The candidates who have been allotted seats must confirm their allotment on or before August 27, 2024.

TNEA 2024 B.Arch provisional allotment list for upward-opted candidates has been released on August 28, 2024. Check the allotment status on the official website barch.tneaonline.org in the Login portal. B.Arch counselling ends on August 30, 2024. Earlier, the tentative allotment list was released on August 21 and candidates must confirm the allotment by 7 PM. The provisional allotment was released on August 22, 2024, and candidates who ‘accept’ the seat had to report to the allotted college from August 22 to August 26.

What Is TNEA Rank List?

The rank list for engineering admission was released on July 10, 2024, by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu. Candidates whose names were mentioned in the rank list are eligible to participate in the counselling rounds.

The final merit list, which is followed by the rank list, is based on the marks scored in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, which are lowered to 200 (Maths - 100, Physics - 50, and Chemistry - 50), after normalizing the marks scored by applicants (across all boards).

The eligible students are combined into a unified merit list after the normalization of marks in the pertinent subjects in the qualifying examination held by several Boards. The official website publishes both, overall rank and community rank.

How Does The TNEA Counselling Process Work?

It is a state-level counselling process for seat allotment in Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges, University Departments and Constituent Colleges of Anna University, Annamalai University. It involves three types of counselling, Special counselling, vocational counselling, and general counselling. Special counselling is for candidates in the sports quota, children of ex-servicemen quota, and differently-abled quota. General counselling is for candidates in the general category, including those in the routine quota.

The counselling procedure comprises four rounds: choice filling, seat allotment, confirmation of allotment, and reporting to the college. Each step is explained in detail below.

Registration & Certificate Verification

  • Registration is the initial step towards taking part in the counselling process. To take part in counselling, applicants must submit an online application along with the counselling fees.

Publication Of Rank List

  • The TNEA rank list for 2024 is prepared using the candidates' scores in the subjects of physics, chemistry, and mathematics on their senior secondary exams.
  • The rank list affects the possibilities of applicants' admission to the colleges.

Choice Filling

  • Candidates are required to prioritize their choices when making their selections.
  • The amount of choices a candidate may select from is unlimited.

Seat Allotment

  • Based on the selections that applicants make and their placement on the rank list, candidates are assigned seats among the B.E./B.Tech. colleges in Tamil Nadu.
  • The seat allocation result includes details such as the candidate's name, rank, community/overall rank, college name, and branch name.
  • Follow the steps given below to download the provisional allotments.
  1. Select the Login button and enter your login credentials.
  2. Click the Login button.
  3. Select the "Open Provisional Allotment" button after successfully logging in.
  4. The allocation is generated. Typically, it takes between a few seconds and a minute.
  5. When it is prepared, a "Download Now" link will appear; click it to start the downloading process.

Choice Confirmation Of Allotment

  • Candidates who are given seats during the seat allocation procedure are given alternatives for confirming their seats.
  • During seat allotment, six confirmation options are shown to the candidates. They are:

Accept and Join When candidates are satisfied with the allotted seats.
Accept and Upward When candidates are satisfied with the assigned seats but wish to wait for a higher order.
Decline and Upward It means candidates are unsatisfied with the allotted seats and wish to wait for a higher order.
Decline and move to the next round Candidates are unsatisfied with the seat allotment and want to move to the next round.
Decline and Quit When candidates are not satisfied with the seat allotment and do not wish to participate in further rounds.
Upward and move to the next round When candidates are not allotted seats and have to wait for upward movement for the seat allotment. If no seat is allotted during upward movement, candidates can move to the next round.

Reporting To Allotted Institute

  • The final step in the counselling process is reporting.
  • Candidates who have accepted their seat assignments must obtain a copy of the seat assignment order.
  • They must report to the designated institute within seven days with the needed paperwork and finish the admissions procedure by making the necessary payments.

Required Documents For Counselling

To participate in the counselling process, candidates must have specific documentation ready for certificate verification.

  • TC (Transfer Certificate)
  • TNEA Registration Form
  • First Graduate Certificate
  • Community Certificate (only for SC/ST/ SCA/ BCM/ BC/ MBC & DNC)
  • Nativity Certificate (if required)
  • Class 10 Certificate/ Mark Sheet
  • Class 12 Certificate or Mark Sheet
  • A certificate of income, if any

TNEA Cutoff 2024

The cutoff varies for all the participating engineering institutes. Candidates must meet the college's cutoff to be considered for admission.

What’s Next After The TNEA Seat Allotment List Release?

After the release of the Seat allotment, the candidates can follow the below process:

  • Candidates with allotted seats in the State Engineering colleges can accept, accept & opt for upward movement, decline or opt for upward movement, or quit the counselling. The upward movement means the candidates will go for the next round of counselling if he/she wishes to change the allotted seats.
  • Candidates should submit their allotment option on time or his/her seat allotment will be cancelled.
  • Candidates who accept the allotted seats must download the provisional seat allotment letter and report to the allotted colleges after the final allotment to confirm the seat, complete the admission process, and pay the tuition fees.

The second round of choice filling for candidates ranked between 26655 and 104602 will take place from August 10, 2024, to August 12, 2024. The seat allotment is scheduled for August 13, 2024.

Meanwhile, the third round of choice filling will begin on August 23, 2024, and end on August 25, 2024, with seat allotment on August 26, 2024. Candidates without allotment in online counselling can request a refund of the initial deposit.

Ques. What are the Tie-breaking criteria of counselling?

Ans. When multiple candidates receive the same marks on the common merit list, the inter-se-merit among those candidates will be decided in the following order of priority.

  • percentage of marks in Mathematics
  • percentage of marks in Physics
  • percentage of marks in the optional subject
  • percentage of total marks in the 12th Standard Examination
  • percentage of total marks in the 10th Standard Examination
  • date of birth (elder will be given preference)

Ans. VIT University, Vellore conducts VITEEE every year which is a national-level engineering entrance examination to admit its students. VIT University doesn't accept marks for any other entrance test.
