Shortlisted candidates are required to report to the respective departments at NIT Rourkela campus on December 9 & 10, 2024 (9:00 AM). Selection will be done based on the tests / interviews.

NIT Rourkela PhD Admission Key Points

  • Selection will be made based on academic record, relevance of qualification, candidate’s research interest, and performance of the candidate in tests or interviews.
  • The selection process may consist of either written or oral tests or both. It is expected that the interview will be completed by the end of the day. However, if it will not be completed on the same day, it will continue on the next day.
  • Candidates who applied under the sponsored category, if selected, will be required to stay at NIT Rourkela till the completion of their programme. Such candidates need to produce leave for at least three years with an MTech / MPharm degree and four years with all other degrees from the sponsor at the time of admission.
  • Candidates working outside Rourkela will not be considered for the Local Sponsored category. If interested, their cases will be considered for the sponsored category on the submission of a proper sponsorship certificate.
  • The category of studentship mentioned in the application will be decided after the interview and verification of documents.
  • A rigorous scrutiny will be done at the time of the selection process.

Documents Required for NIT Rourkela PhD Admission

The candidates are required to bring the below-listed original documents at the time of the interview:

  • Marks sheets / Grade Cards of all examinations from Class 10 onwards.
  • Degree / pass Certificates from Class 10 onwards.
  • GATE / NET / GPAT etc. Score Card, if applicable.
  • Sponsorship Certificate from employer in the prescribed format for Sponsored candidates.
  • Research publications, if any.
