Remarks :
This college is 168 years old and is the 2nd oldest engineering college of India, the legacy of this college and it's research atmosphere made me choose this college. JEE Mains is required for admission.
Course Curriculum Overview :
This college falls under NITSER council and follows the modern course and curriculum. All the faculties hold a PhD here and are super experienced. Every year a lot of students crack the prestigious GATE exam by studying in the college only.
Internships Opportunities :
This year JSPL, JSL, BIS, NML, Accenture provided internship to the students enrolled in the penultimate year of the degree. Most of sophomores completed their internship at various IITs and IISc Bangalore.
Placement Experience :
Most of the companies allow students with decent CGPA and no backlogs. Some of the recruiters name are Tata Steel, JSW steel, JSPL, JSL Stainless, HSBC Bank, Tata Metalliks, BNY Mellon, Accenture, etc. The highest package this year was 11.89 LPA. The average package was 8.48 LPA.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Students belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), or Physically Handicapped categories are eligible for a 100% tuition fee waiver, providing them with significant financial relief in their educational pursuits. Economically backward students, whose family income is less than Rs.1 lakh per annum, receive a full remission of the tuition fee, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their access to education. Additionally, other economically backward students with a family income between Rs.1 lakh to Rs.5 lakh per annum benefit from a reduction of two-thirds of the tuition fee, further easing the financial burden on their families.
Campus Life :
At the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur (IIEST Shibpur), campus life is both active and supportive. Every year, students come together for big events like *ReBECA* in March, the cultural fest, and *Instruo* in January, the tech fest. The library is packed with useful books and journals, and the classrooms are comfortable and well-equipped. Beyond academics, students have plenty of chances to join sports and clubs, like the *Literary Club* and *Photography Club*. These activities help students connect, grow, and make the most of their time at IIEST Shibpur.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostels are bit old given its rich history. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd years get 4-seater rooms and the final year gets single seater rooms. The mess is run by students here. Hostels are provided on the basis of distance of home from college. Additionally a 1000 seater hostel construction is in progress.

Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
My experience at Shri Shikshayatan College
Placement Experience :
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Affordable Government Pharmacy Education with Strong Academics but Limited Industry Exposure
Placement Experience :
Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
My honest opinion on P. G. INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
Placement Experience :
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
ACADEMY OF TECHNOLOGY REVIEW
Placement Experience :
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.

Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.

College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
