The major factor for me was to pursue the fascinating world of engineering ,of building things and ti make connections. There is no better place in India to study BTech than in IIT, that too in one of the old IITs. No Studious student thinking of pursuing engineering need to be told of the charm and hype of IITs. Admission into IIT is done through JEE Advanced, that is done after clearing the cutoff of JEE Mains, Good aspects are clearly the vibrant atmosphere, elite faculty and equipment with state of the art buildings and amazing research areas. One bad aspect that I felt is the population of IIT Kharagur. It is so big and someone is clearly better than you in each step, you need to work much harder in studies, co-curricular activities, improving skills etc. I prepared for JEE Advanced in my Class 11 and gave my first exam while in class 12. The results were not satisfactory so I dropped for a year in my preparation and then got admission.
The course curriculum of Biotechnology is clearly defined and efficiently designed to teach the students all the necessary knowledge they need to further pursue this domain for research purposes. I chose this course according to the rank I was getting with respect to JOSAA Counselling. Also the subject was hugely meaningful to me and interesting enough to make me decide to spend four crucial years learning in this course. Faculty here is top class with most of them having done their Phds from American and Europian Elite colleges, else IISc Bangalore. Faculty make presentations and teach the class by pointing and writing concepts down on the board for aid. Mid-Term exams are relatively held much quicker compared to other IITs, it is due to long summer vacations which is utilised in doing Internships abroad or in companies or research work under professors. The difficulty level is very high.
I have not applied for any internship yet. Internship happen in the end of second year conducted by CDC and a lot of selection process goes behind securing an intern. The demands are very high and it is completed in the summer vacation of the third year. Mostly tech, data,FMCG companies come for recruitment for internships. Stipend offered for a 10 week work is as high as 60 lakhs in some cases. TO apply for internship, you need to select the domain where you want it. Having necessary projects in those domains, some privately applied internships, can be beneficial for selection.
The placements in IIT Kharagpur are the biggest in India with offers as high as 1.8 Cr. There is ample job opportunities as a lot of companies come for placements and internships. CDC deals with the the placment scenarios. The CDC phase is very difficult and random shortlisting interview calls can come randomly as early as 2 in the night or 7 in the morning. Some of the recruiters are Big Tech Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, DataBricks etc. No. of offers are not publicly displyed to the general population but an average of approx 1200 offers are made to 1600 students. The remaing students decide to choose their own paths like Research, MBA, UPSC etc.

Campus life is very lively and vibrant. IIT Kharagpur conducts the the biggest Techno-management festival in Asia 'Kshitij'. It also holds 'Spring Fest' which is delirium and celebration for three days where various events happen and at nights, famous singers perform on stage. These are really the most memorable experiences of my life.Conducted in January. IIT Kharagpur's library is the biggest library in Asia with milliions of copies of books allowed to be borrowed for free. Sports and co-curricular activities are taken very seriously by the college to the point that it is compulsory as it is a part of our syllabus. IIT Kharagpur has dozens of societies, cells, clubs etc. where you can express your inner self freely. I am in a society called KodeinKGP: Technology Web 3.0 Society which deals with new technologies like AI and metaverse that I am highly interested in.
You simply have to pay the HMC(Hall Maintenance council)fees. They provide you with the hall and mess pass. All the halls have amazing infrastructure, well defined building plans. The food is relatively better in some halls compared to others. Some halls like RK,RP,Azad halls have amazing food. Nehru hall is the most famous amongst halls as it has alumni base ranging from Sundar Pichai, Arvind Kejriwal, D Subburao. To rent a room in the Technology Guest house one of the students/faculty needs to book it physically from the desk counter and wait until the request is approved.
Placement is I do not say that is very good but I would say that treatment is almost okay and that's up to you and lot of MNC companies came in our College group. There are internship opportunities industrial training like Euphoria ardent like this MNC and ideas
In this college we have five departments, civil, computer science, mechanical, electrical and mechanical respectively and the stops are very good and the faculties are highly qualified and they are about almost everyone is iitiab
Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.
For computer science student theyare not providing any type of placement in campus but in other department student have any placement opportunity in our collage in every year visit from TCS, APPLO, and many big and small companies
Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.
Still don't about the placements and job opportunities . I haven't even discussed with my seniors about the opportunities after the graduation we get from college.
College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
