- The best thing I like is gardens and old vintage buildings. Though the most of them is clumsy and broken yet many of the buildings older than 100 years are in good conditions and renovation is done regularly.
- The other best thing about this college is that IIEST is popular among researchers and architecture students which attracts students from Kashmir to Kerala and Gujarat to Nagaland. Their is very well diversity and each festival is celebrated without any problems.
Dislikes
- Well the curriculum is too old and outdated. It needs changes as per the modern discovery and tools.
- There are too much empty spaces in the campus which are left unnoticed by officials. The gardens and fields need to be maintained.
Remarks :
The main factor I chose this college was it's vicinity with Kolkata. This creates multiple opportunities to grow and create studying nearby a metropolitan city. The other reason for chosing it is it's legacy for civil department. Admissions are done on basis of Jee Mains rank. Basically, one can prepare for the Jee exams through self study with many books or joining coaching.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The main reason to choose this coarse was deep interest in one of the specialization , environmental engineering. IIEST Shibpur was established in 1856 as a civil engineering college and since then, it holds legacy of Civil Department. Most of the teachers are quite helpful and good listener. Few of them could be annoying but as everything has some faults. There are 2 exams in one semester i.e. one mid semester of 30 marks each and one end semester for 50 marks each along with 20 marks for class tests, attendance and assignments. The difficulty of term exams depends on the faculty in charge of papers. However the main problem is the outdated syllabus of this college which also affects placements.
Internships Opportunities :
Currently I am doing second years and has not yet claimed for internships opportunities. But the people here easily get internships into different companies like wells fargo or tata or they chose research fields in IITs and other colleges. The students are also given many practical projects and tasks. However the placements season is down unfortunately.
Placement Experience :
The placements varies from department to Department. The highest placement this year was recorded 52 lacs while the average package of Civil department is around 9 to 10 lacs per annum. Many of the students get placed in pre placement offers during their third year of engineering and the remaining either go for the final placements in 4th year or other stuffs such as GATE , CAT or studies ABROAD.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
For General Category students: total fees is 68,500 per semester while People with income less than 5 lacs get 2/3rd tuition fee waiver and students with income lesser than 100000 get 100 % fee waiver. The most common scholarship is GaaBesu scholarships funded by IIEST's alumni. It is both merit based and category based. Also there are multiple Scholarships provided here.
Campus Life :
The best thing about campus is the fests, events and competitions held regularly. All the nine Btech departments present their individual Annual Fests such as Udbhabani for Civil and Impetus for Mechanical engineering. There is also the largest tech fest of Kolkata i.e. Instruo is restarted this year. The main college annual fest and the four days festival called Rebeca is organised in the month of April before the final end semesters. The other benefits are multiple canteens and cafe ins around along with 4 lakes in the college. The Hydraulics lab here once was the largest in India.
Hostel Facilities :
First of all let me talk about the fees, hostel fee is ? 4000 per year while the mess fees is 25,500 per semester. The food quality is okay for vegetarians but better for the non vegetarian people. It is easy to apply for the hostel accomodation from the mess section cabin. One can also live on rented rooms or ph just outside the main gates of IIEST. The overall fees for both the institute and hostels are too affordable than other NITs or IITs. However, most of the hostels are too old. One thousand seater hostel is in progress and may complete at end of this year.

Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
My experience at Shri Shikshayatan College
Placement Experience :
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Affordable Government Pharmacy Education with Strong Academics but Limited Industry Exposure
Placement Experience :
Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
My honest opinion on P. G. INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
Placement Experience :
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
ACADEMY OF TECHNOLOGY REVIEW
Placement Experience :
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.

Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.

College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
