For educational purposes, my college is among the top 7 colleges in India. It gives the opportunity to study and explore new things. The admission process of the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur is like all other IITs in India. At the primary stage, the candidate has to write an exam, JEE Mains. Generally, it has two attempts, and the best among the two is taken as the final result. JEE mains have three subjects - Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, each of 100 marks with 25 questions(each of 4 marks) for each subject. Cut off for general, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST are around 91,76,74,55,40 percentile. But it changes year to year. After that the selected candidate of JEE mains can write in the JEE Advanced exam, the full marks of the exam can change from year to year but it is around 360 marks. It is in two papers- each paper has 3 subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics each of the same weightage. The cut-off is available on the official website of JEE advanced ( jeeadv.ac.in). I took coaching from good mentors.
I like physics and Instrumentation has a higher scope of industrial application. So I choose this. In IITs, all professors have educational qualifications at least post-graduate level. They have graduated from renowned institutes in India and abroad. The teaching method is nice and profs are really friendly. Any student can approach any professor for educational help and discuss the subject. The whole year is divided into two semesters, each semester has a mid-semester and an end-semester exam. Questions are really medium to difficult level. But previous year questions are available and other assistance is available. The tuition fee is 1 lakh rupees for each semester. Other than that the complete fee structure is available on the official website of IIT Kharagpur(international.iitkgp.ac.in). But there are lots of scholarships and fee waivers such as Merit-cum-Means scholarship, Puri memorial scholarship, Prova basu scholarship, Gour Chandra scholarship, etc.
Many companies come here to take junior interns. Multinational companies like Google, JP Morgan, Flipkart, Amazon, Microsoft, etc come to give internships. And in IIT Kharagpur all the internships are stipend. Through there interns students can learn more about the applications of their studies and can get hands-on experience. Mainly the projects are on Artificial intelligence, Machine Learning, and technology-related topics and sometimes students works for some governmental projects.
Eligibility criteria is different for different companies, but there is a minimum CGPA required for interview. Large multinational companies like Google, Microsoft, Flipkart, Amazon etc come here to recruit students from IIT Kharagpur. Almost 90 percent of all students get job offer per year. Maximum package is above 1 crore each year and average package is around 20 lakhs. Students can apply for jobs on campus in the previous semester of their respective last semester. And they can apply for internships in their 3rd years. After getting the degree I am thinking for joining a job and after some year of work again come to study for M. Tech degree and Phd.
There are many fests such as Spring Fest (cultural fest), Kshitij(Techno Management Fest), and other departmental fests. Spring Fest and Kshitij are held in January. The library of IIT Kharagpur is one of the largest in Asia. It has access to many digital libraries, so we can access many study materials and articles from various institutes. Classrooms are nicely organized, with digital facility of projectors. IIT Kharagpur has large fields - TATA Steel Sports Ground, MG Ground, Gnan Ghosh Stadium, etc. Besides all the hostels have their own basketball and badminton court and a small cricket and football ground inside. Indoor games are also played. Extracurricular activities like cultural works, arts, drawings, drama, etc are largely enjoyed by students. There are many societies like Dramatic, Computer Graphics, Civil Service, Music society all clubs are here. Hostel food quality is almost good. It is completely residential and students must stay inside IIT.
Placement is I do not say that is very good but I would say that treatment is almost okay and that's up to you and lot of MNC companies came in our College group. There are internship opportunities industrial training like Euphoria ardent like this MNC and ideas
In this college we have five departments, civil, computer science, mechanical, electrical and mechanical respectively and the stops are very good and the faculties are highly qualified and they are about almost everyone is iitiab
Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.
For computer science student theyare not providing any type of placement in campus but in other department student have any placement opportunity in our collage in every year visit from TCS, APPLO, and many big and small companies
Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.
Still don't about the placements and job opportunities . I haven't even discussed with my seniors about the opportunities after the graduation we get from college.
College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
