Remarks :
At the time of my joining which was the year 2020 the college was one of the top 25 engineering colleges in India (according to NIRF). But the dean was a money grubber. We've got a new dean in 2024. I hope things will get better It was during the COVID lockdown period. The entirety of the admission process was done online. There was no GD/PI. Candidates were allotted through JOSAA counseling and accepted solely based on the JEE MAIN cutoff.
Course Curriculum Overview :
As it was during the lockdown period I wasted the first two years. I didn't focus much on academics. MY batch was in 3rd year by the time the lockdown ended, by the time we joined college. There were good, experienced faculty members who genuinely cared about the subject and the students, and there were some who were just there. There were a few who were filled with hatred for the students, the subject, and the world in general. Exams were conducted twice per semester and the difficulty depended on the faculty in charge
Internships Opportunities :
I didn't get any offers for internship. But some of my friends got offers from TI, PWC, Accenture. Offers for for internships are pretty rare. But the department will do their utmost in providing you one. for my batch people who didn't have their internship figured out, the department arranged internships in POSOCO , WBSEDCL.
Placement Experience :
Basic requirements:- *The student must have all backlogs cleared. *The student must have 6 cgpe(having above 7.5 - 8 is recommended). CESC , TATA , Aditya Birla group , Jindal group , PWC are some of the notable recruiters. Texas Instrumrnts , the flagship recruiter offers a package of 36lpa. about 80% of the students gets placed I was placed in pwc but now pursuing higher studies.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
A general candidate's tuition fee was around 65000 per semester. Depending on category and income students would get a 2/3rd or full fee waivered An OBC/EWS candidate had to pay about Rs 20000, whereas SC/ST candidates had to pay only about Rs 3000. A caution deposit of Rs 3000 was collected at the course's beginning and refunded after convocation. Students can apply for NSP.
Campus Life :
Most of the fest were conducted during even semester. We had oikotaan ,instruo , and other departmental fests. Rebecca was the college's flagship fest. Lasted for 4 days from Feb end to mid-March. Two large grounds - Lords and Oval, a basketball court, 1 swimming pool. There was a shortage of badminton courts. Every hostel had provisions for table tennis and carrom.
Hostel Facilities :
1st to 3rd years stayed in hostels. Every room had 4 people. The food was edible. The menu was decided by the students themselves. 4th-year students stayed in the hall of residence. There were 5 halls each had its own culture and alumni history. Here too the students decided most of the budgeting including the mess food.

Placement Experience :
Placements are not being offered from our college solely. But internship is being offered in the last 6 months mandatory for the completion of the four year course. The placement thing is solely on you like how capable are you to get into one hospital. But this college has nothing to do with it.

One should not be have any backlogs to sit for campus placements and should keep a decent GPA as many companies puts a cut off GPA. Placements are very decent and almost 70 percentage gets placed many of the others gets into higher studies

Student should not have any Backlog and Minimum 60% throughout academics , those who qualify this criteria they can be part of placement drive. Cognizant - 12 , TCS - 4, Bavistech - 8, Utah Tech Labs - 15. Highest - 9 LPA , Average - 3.5 LPA Around 30% student got placed. I got placed and after getting degree i will join that compnay.

Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
My experience at Shri Shikshayatan College
Placement Experience :
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Affordable Government Pharmacy Education with Strong Academics but Limited Industry Exposure

Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.

Placements are for MSc batch only. Last year the highest package was 28LPA from Citi Bank, Gurgaon. Majorly hiring companies that come in FETSU for placements only come to maths dept in SFSU. Packages offered here are based on qualities. It decent.
