Assam Agricultural University has introduced an Agri Biotechnology program from the academic session 2020‐21 from DBT as per approved syllabi. The candidates are selected on the basis of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Biotechnology (GAT‐B). AAU, Jorhat: Scholarships

Assam Agricultural University provides scholarships to its students to make its education more affordable for them. These scholarships are based on candidate’s academic performance, financial background, category and various other parameters.Below mentioned are the details:

  • State Merit Scholarship for UG candidates: 20% of the undergraduate students belonging to Assam only are offered stipend upto INR 1000 per month.
  • RAWEP/ TIWEP/ FWEP/ Internship: An amount of INR 5000 per month is offered to undergraduate students belonging to Assam. Students sponsored by ICAR/VCI are eligible for the support at the rate of reimbursement from ICAR.
  • State Merit Scholarship for PG candidates: 80% of the total master’s degree pursuing candidates of each department and all PhD candidates belonging to Assam are offered a stipend of INR 1600 per month.
  • Thesis Grant: An amount of INR 2000 for master’s degree candidates and INR 3000 for research scholars is granted under this scholarship.
  • Other Scholarships: In addition to the scholarships offered by AAU, one can also apply for other scholarships/ fellowships such as those offered by the State Government, Central Government, ICAR, DBT, ITA, TAI, UGC, M/S Hemendra Prasad Barooah, M/S Bayer Crop Science Ltd and other agencies if he/she fulfills the scholarships eligibility criteria. 
  • Medals and Cash Prizes: A number of Gold Medals/ Cash Prizes are awarded to meritorious candidates.

Ques. Is AAU a good university? How much 10+2 percentage is needed for admission? How much is the hostel charge?

Ans. Yes, absolutely. It is the best agricultural university in the Northeast. There's no proper demarcation in marks for entry, it changes every year and depends whether you're from Assam or other States. You've high chances if your 10+2 marks are above 80 %. Hostel fee is around INR 2000 per year and mess fee is between INR 1200–1400 per month. 

Ques. Will there be entrance exams for admission in UG for Assam Agricultural University?

Ans. There is an all India entrance test for getting admission into different agricultural universities of India conducted by ICAR. But if you are a candidate from Assam itself then you have an option of getting admission on the basis of ur 10+2 PCB marks. And there are also options of pursuing undergraduate courses under the high fees category. So no particular entrance test is conducted by AAU but ICAR entrance test can be opted well. Preferences are given on the basis of ranking on the entrance.

Ques. How much should I score in the ICAR to get into Assam Agriculture University?

Ans. In general seats are available in assam agriculture university till last, so if you have a good rank you are in the safe zone. However, another factor which can affect is that out of all the ICAR seats available in any university, there can be a maximum of 40% of students through ICAR from any state, so if more people are interested in taking admission in Assam from your state, then it becomes difficult.
