IIIT Delhi Admission Dates 2027

IIIT Delhi uses different admission routes for different programmes. Most B.Tech seats are filled through JAC Delhi counselling based on JEE Main rank. Some CSD seats use UCEED rank, and some CSSS seats use Class XII marks. M.Tech admission is based on GATE scores, while PhD admission is handled through an institute-level process.

IIIT Delhi Courses and Fees

IIIT Delhi offers 9 B.Tech programmes that combine Computer Science or Electronics with areas such as AI, Mathematics, Design, Economics, Biology and Social Sciences. The fee details below cover the full programme duration.

B.Tech CSE usually has the toughest competition in JAC Delhi counselling because it closes at the lowest JEE Main rank. CSAI and CSAM also attract strong demand, but their closing ranks are slightly higher. CSD and CSSS use additional admission routes for some seats, through UCEED rank and Class XII marks respectively.

IIIT Delhi Admission Process

B.Tech admission at IIIT Delhi is mainly handled through JAC Delhi, the common counselling process also used by DTU and NSUT. IIITD separately fills some seats in CSD and CSSS. For M.Tech and PhD, the institute follows its own selection process.

IIIT Delhi B.Tech Admission Process

Most B.Tech seats are allotted online through JAC Delhi after students register, enter branch preferences and take part in seat allotment rounds based on JEE Main rank.

• Eligibility: Students must pass 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. They need at least 70% in Mathematics and at least 70% aggregate in the best 5 subjects including Mathematics.
• Entrance exam: A valid JEE Main score is used through JAC Delhi. NRI students may apply through IIITD's direct international process.
• CSD route: Some B.Tech CSD seats are filled through UCEED, the Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design, under IIITD's own process.
• CSSS route: Some B.Tech CSSS seats are filled through IIITD's own process using Class XII aggregate marks in the best 5 subjects.

IIIT Delhi M.Tech and PhD Admission Process

For M.Tech, IIIT Delhi shortlists students using GATE scores and may also hold a written test or interview. PhD admission is offered through separate cycles with more than one entry point in a year.

• M.Tech eligibility: Applicants need a B.Tech/B.E. degree in a relevant discipline. A valid GATE score is usually needed for most specialisations.
• PhD eligibility: Applicants need an M.Tech/M.Sc degree in a relevant field. Selection can be through GATE, UGC-NET, or IIITD's written test and interview.
• GATE 2027 registration is open. M.Tech admission for 2027-28 will follow GATE 2027 results, which are scheduled for March 2027.

IIIT Delhi Cutoffs

IIIT Delhi CSE is one of the most competitive B.Tech choices in JAC Delhi counselling. In the 2025 cycle, the General Category closing JEE Main rank for B.Tech CSE was in the 5,000 to 6,000 range. CSAI, CSAM and ECE closed at higher ranks, while CSD and CSSS had wider rank ranges because they also use separate admission routes.

IIIT Delhi Placements

IIIT Delhi placements are strong in computer science, AI, electronics and related technology roles. In the latest season, the highest domestic package was INR 51.31 LPA and the highest international package was INR 99.28 LPA. B.Tech students recorded a mean package of INR 20.69 LPA and a median package of INR 18 LPA. The placement drive saw 763 offers from 176 recruiters.

Most recruiters come from product and technology sectors. Software development, AI/ML engineering, data science and product management roles usually receive the top offers. ECE and EVE students also get opportunities in semiconductor and VLSI roles. Companies in fintech, finance, economics, analytics and consulting also visit the campus.

The placement rate for eligible B.Tech students stays above 90%. Graduates join software product companies, VLSI design firms, analytics companies and quantitative finance firms. The MSIT, or M.Tech by research, route also supports research-based industry placements in R&D labs.

IIIT Delhi Rankings

In the NIRF Engineering Rankings 2025, IIIT Delhi is ranked 63rd with a score of 51.33. Its score is 73.74 in Graduation Outcomes and 66.46 in Teaching, Learning, and Resources. The Research and Professional Practices score is 30.17, showing that the institute is still building its research base as a young institution.

IIIT Delhi Scholarships

IIIT Delhi gives tuition fee waivers linked to JEE Main rank. These scholarships apply to the tuition part of the fee and are meant for high-ranking General Category students.

The waiver does not cover hostel or mess charges. To continue receiving the scholarship after the first year, students must keep satisfactory academic performance.

IIIT Delhi Campus and Infrastructure

IIIT Delhi is located at Okhla Industrial Estate, Phase III, New Delhi 110020, near Govindpuri and Nehru Place Metro stations. The 19-acre campus is smaller than many engineering campuses because it sits in an urban part of South Delhi.

The campus has separate hostels for boys and girls, a central library with digital journal access, AI labs, VLSI labs, IoT labs and cybersecurity research labs. Students who consider IIIT Delhi often compare it with IIIT Hyderabad and DTU Delhi. IIIT Hyderabad has a longer research record, while DTU Delhi is a larger public engineering university with more branches. All three attract strong JEE Main applicants looking at public engineering options.

IIIT Delhi stands out because its B.Tech programmes combine CS with AI, Mathematics, Economics, Design and other fields. IIIT Hyderabad is a strong choice for students who want a more established research environment. DTU Delhi offers a bigger campus and a wider engineering list, including Civil, Mechanical and Chemical branches.
