KGMU Admissions 2024 FAQs

Ques. Does KGMU offer management Seats?

Ans. No. KGMU Lucknow does not offer any management seats for admissions. The only way to get admission at KGMU is through scoring merit in the national entrance examinations. NEET UG, UP CNET, NEET PG, NEET SS, and NEET MDS are the national entrance examinations accepted for KGMU admission for UG, PG, and Super speciality courses.

Ques. Is there any limit for the maximum attempts for NEET exams?

Ans. No. The NBE sets no limit for how many times a candidate can appear for NEET examinations. Candidates can appear for the NEET entrance examinations multiple times until they crack it to get admission at the desired medical college.

Ques. What is the P.hD admission process for an employed candidate?

Ans. KGMU P.hD admission is open only to the ‘Indian nationals’. If the candidate is employed and desires to get P.hD admission at KGMU, the candidate must apply through the proper channel. Once the admission is confirmed, the candidate must submit the permission letter (NOC) obtained from the employer. The employer must state that the candidate has been granted study leave of 2 years to pursue P.hD at KGMU. The application processing fee is non-refundable. The application form must be submitted along with 3 coloured passport-size photographs and a certificate from the Dean of the institution where the candidate has passed MD/MS.

Ques. Can I submit my M. Phil application form in person at KGMU Controller of Examination Office?

Ans. No, the M.Phil application can be submitted only through ‘online mode’. The application link will be provided on the ‘KGMU official website’. Any applications sent through post or handed over in person will not be accepted for processing. They will be rejected instantly. The applications must be submitted online on or before the last date of submission. All incomplete applications will be rejected. No communication will be sent to the candidates regarding the rejection of the application.

Ques. Can I get direct admission at KGMU?

Ans. No. There is no way an applicant will get direct admission at KGMU. KGMU admissions are completely based on merit scored in the national entrance examinations. To get admission to the UG, PG and super-speciality courses at KGMU, candidates must qualify for the NEET. For the PhD/MPhil/MSc Nursing the institute conducts the KGMU entrance test. If qualified then they need to attend the counselling to secure a seat at KGMU. Once the seat is confirmed, the candidate must report to the institute on the joining day with all the required documents.

Ques. Is MHPE course admission open for external candidates?

Ans. KGMU offers a Masters program in Health Profession Education (MHPE)to 30 students every year. KGMU MHPE admission is offered to both internal and external candidates. The candidates applying for MHPE admission at KGMU must be Indian nationals. KGMU offers 15 seats to internal candidates from the faculty of dental sciences and the faculty of the medical branch. The remaining 15 seats are offered to the external candidates. The admission is offered to the candidates who score merit in the written entrance examination conducted by KGMU.

Ques. What is the stipend paid to students at KGMU?

Ans. MBBS students at KGMU are paid a monthly stipend during their internship after the final professional examinations. The stipend paid for MBBS students at KGMU is INR 17,000. PG students are paid a stipend of INR 96,000 per month. Students pursuing DM/M.Ch courses at KGMU are paid a monthly stipend of INR 1,14,000.

Ques. What is the service bond for PG and Superspecialty courses?

Ans. Students pursuing MD/MS courses at KGMU must sign a compulsory service bond. If the students break the bond, they must pay a penalty of INR 40,00,000. Candidates pursuing super speciality courses DM/M.Ch must also sign a compulsory service bond. The penalty for breaking the service bond at the super speciality level is INR 1,00,00,000.
