A candid Review of the north east

What I Liked

The faculty is highly skilled in their departments and also have many research papers in their name and we get to learn a lot from them
Teh campus life is great there is a diversity of people from different cultures which we celebrate together and enjoy each other's company

What I didn’t like

There are is inside shop which remain open for 24/7 say if u r hungry at night u better have a packet of maggie
The gym does not have a lot of machines on which u can workout

Remarks:

The institute has a got syllabus for its branches and also very good for research programs there are only two branches cse and ece currently the college can be choosed through jee mains for cse the rank for general should be about 19000 and cab get ece till 44000 u can get the college through jossa councelling and csab.the academic culture is pretty good

IIIT Guwahati's reality

What I Liked

Infrastructure wise our college has a student activity centre which includes an enclosed badminton court, A gym, a table tennis room and a lot of clubs (19) which includes sports.. a lot of events take place in sports as well.
Faculties in my opinion are top notch and are really helpful.
Campus life is improving a lot, the number of events has increased and the clubs have been more active. Competitions are help randomly, technical event are held, debugging rounds, blind coding, hackathons and a lot more.

What I didn’t like

College infrastructure isnt that good yet, a lot of roads are not properly lit up yet and hostels are the worst. Food can be a LOT better. and there isnt a proper system of handling things
The one bad thing and the most important is the safety, and it is so common to see a snake in the campus just roaming around and no one does a thing. one more thing is the amount of cattle in the campus is not appreciated not because they harm anyone but because the amount manure lying randomly.

Remarks:

From the grades i got, i had to be considerate and therefore this was the best college i could get. I got this from csab round which is basically a spot round. I didnt have any group discussion. You get this college by getting a jee mains rank and through josaa counselling ( 6 rounds) . After that if seats are left.. They are placed in csab counselling(2 rounds). cutoff went 98.75 percentile last year.

Great learning,

What I Liked

The campus life is pretty chill, you are continuously in the contact of nature, very far away from home, with people from different states and cities, it's a really good learning experience
Some of the faculties here are really helpful, you can approach any faculty if you're a decent enough student

What I didn’t like

The infrastructure is very minimum, infact there are snakes rattling here at night.
Faculties here sometimes get involved in political stuff, they forget they're professors that too of engineering department.

Remarks:

My admission was through a centralised process called JoSAA. I wanted to take CSE, with my JEE mains percentile, the best CSE(NIRF) wise I could get was this college. If I had waited for further counselling rounds I'd have gotten a better college. At that time(2021) the NIRF of IIITG was 71 it has dropped to 150+ now

Small Collge Small Problems

What I Liked

Syllabus or Curriculum they teach in classes
Some faculties who teach well and think about students
The academic building is air-conditioned

What I didn’t like

Sports facilities here are straight-up bad, especially not having a Basketball Court
Mess food is not that good in quality and hygiene is not maintained in the mess

Remarks:

I chose this college because I can't get any better college in CSAB Counselling. At first, leaving home 2000km behind felt depressing, but college life here is good. There are some advantages of a small college too like you can reach class in 2 minutes and you know everyone in your college. Admissions.., JOSAA or CSAB, get admission date, travel to Guwahati, do online registration (can also be done from home), show documents, get hostel keys and done.

LIFE AT IIIT GUWAHATI

What I Liked

I like how faculties are experienced and have been students of prominent institutes.
There is freedom to be in any number of clubs and events which are held regularly.

What I didn’t like

The college campus has not been developed properly.
There is rigorous competition among students for academics.

Remarks:

I got admission in this college by scoring 98.2%ile in JEE-Mains(2023) in CSE branch. Counseling is done via JoSAA and CSAB. Admission was fully based on %ile and there was no additional interview, group discussion or written tests.

BOOK ON IIIT GUWAHATI

What I Liked

College Infrastructure was very good and the academics block consists central AC which I loves it. Faculty was very friendly and well experienced and who completed their PhD from IIT's,Nit's etc..
The fests in IIIT GUWAHATI was awesome there are 2 main fest as mentioned. We have a ground,Gym, Table Tennis, Badminton court etc.

What I didn’t like

Mess food was quite disappointed in our college.
The campus was not greenary as expected and the ground was small.

Remarks:

I had an interest in the field of computer science and engineering which motivated me to take up this course and we can learn many new things due to the quality of the alumni here. For admission, we should given a Written exam called JEE MAINS and the cut-off is different for different categories of students.
