BRABOURNE IN THE EYES OF A BRABOURNITE

What I Liked

i like it has discipline,good equipments for practical classes and library
peaceful space lovely aatmostphere canteen more or less okay

What I didn’t like

faculty can care a little bit more, no campus life, they should add groups like drama group , music groups etc

Placement Experience:

there is a placement cell but not very good but active. as per degree in botany there were no such oppertunities , which is normal, it is a acedemic college dont expect placements its not a engineering college , also under CU there are less good placements , i am not saying none but i have not got any.

Internships Opportunities:

no, there are no such internships available , but once i got a project oppertunity about a resesrch thingy. you could get research related something . but dont expect i would say. teachers are old fashions . they cant help u to get a internship

My experience as a student

What I Liked

My College campus is too big some people thought that it is autonomous college or like a university. There are lot of opportunities in my college. Professors are very helpful, our college students are very studies and well known as Lady Brabourne's students.

What I didn’t like

Sometimes professors are so bad to us. Didn't think about us and didn't mean to us.

Placement Experience:

Our college gives us internship but I don't know about the placements. But I think college help me on that program if I do good will. My plans after getting this degree a good job and starting master degree.

Internships Opportunities:

No I haven't opted till but professors said we will soon. I'm excited for the internship. Our assignments are not difficult they are too easy to resist, professors also help us in this procedure. We made a theory to clarify the task

As it's a complete government Institute so you won't get enough placements here but it'sone of the best if you are opting for higher and industrial studies. And i offcourse have plans for higher studies

"Lady Brabourne College: Is It Worth taking an Admission?"

What I Liked

I like the greenery of our college, it is a very pretty aesthetically pleasing college, and is well maintained for a govt college.
We have four buildings, which are interconnected and all are pretty spacious. The first is the Old Building, the next is the RC building, the third is the Merged Scheme Building, the fourth is the New Sciences building. Apart from that, there is also another cottage building in the back of our college where languages (except English) are placed.
Campus life is pretty chill, we are free to do whatever we want, dress however we please. Most of our teachers are also pretty with some exceptions ofcourse. Most professors are understanding and good at their teaching methods.

What I didn’t like

The worst thing about the college is the disgusting college washrooms, especially in the Main building. The RC is still tolerable but still not up to the mark. The drinking water facilities is also not available well. Most of the time water is not available.
The faculty is sometimes somewhat dismissive about the student's concern, and since there is no political union, the student's concerns are not raised enough, and students don't generally raise their opinions enough.

Placement Experience:

There is a career counselling and placement cell, but frankly, there is no use for them, since there are no placements provided by our college. Sometimes if you are an excellent student, you are referred to another prestigious college for further studies. I would personally like to pursue a Master after the completion of my degree from another uni.

Internships Opportunities:

There are no direct internships at our college, but sometimes recruiters come to professors who ask us to take part in the internships. For example, we were asked to take part in a data entry job for a well-respected professor. It was upto us to join or not.

Comprehensive review of Lady Brabourne College

What I Liked

Lady Brabourne College as mentioned before is one of the most prestigious colleges in the state. The college has an excellent facilities for the Botany honours program. The faculty is amazing with very highly qualified professors.
The campus is pretty, spacious, located in a very prominent location of the city. The education is state of the art. And overall it's been an amazing journey and I couldn't be more proud to be an alumni.
The social life in the campus is great. While obviously focussing on the education and classes etc, the campus gives us the opportunity to make friends, have a comradery and most importantly be a strong team. The field trips and excursions enhance the bonding and teamwork among the classmates.

What I didn’t like

This college is dead serious about the coursework and the education. The faculty is very strict with the course and related subjects.
The course is pretty tough, thorough and intense. And the time is sometimes not enough. Might also feel a little overwhelming sometimes.

Placement Experience:

The general science courses of Calcutta University do not offer campus placements but the students are always welcome for off-campus placements and internships. The general sciences are mainly focused on research purposes, pushing the students for further higher studies such as master's and doctorate programs. I am focused on research so I went on to pursue the master's degree.

College life at Lady Brabourne College

What I Liked

Campus was good , some faculty teachers were extremely good , all of our guest lecturers were well known famous scientists or researchers. They used to take best classes .
Talks were given in seminars by renowned people from all over the world.

What I didn’t like

Some infrastructure must be improved to betterment
Social life on campus should be coordinating

Placement Experience:

No placement or job opportunity is here , if you want to study more and be in academic or research field after post graduation you need to do PhD otherwise you can do anything on your own , no placement is offered by any general line college

Internships Opportunities:

Yes , in our course it was mandatory to do internship for 2 months . I did from Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute, Kolkata. Internship is unpaid , rather we had to pay for doing internship. College does not play any role here , it was our duty to find internship.

Lady Brabourne College and Hostel Overview

What I Liked

Studious Environment and Responsible Teachers
Annual Fest and Functions and lots of events occurring in college

What I didn’t like

No sports management and no clubs such as Debate or anything
Focus is only on study no extra curriculum.

Placement Experience:

Sadly placement opportunities are very bad no such placements, only internships and side courses, Debates and MUNs for recognition in campus placement offers, No contracts with companies, and Seminars are held often for Awareness.

Internships Opportunities:

No. I haven't attended any internship as such but there are offers from YOUNITY and Techbook, IIT Bhubaneswar otherwise there are MUNs and Debate for Skills. The internship basic is sales executive or network marketing.
