Established in 1994, the Army Institute of Technology Pune was set up by General BC Joshi, the then Chief of the Indian Army. Affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, the institute is AICTE approved, besides being NBA and NAAC Grade A accredited. The Week and India Today ranked AIT Pune at 13 and 54 for BTech, for 2024.
 

AIT Pune BE is offered in five specialisations. AIT Pune Admission Process requires the candidate to have cleared 10+2 with Physics and Maths, with Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology as an elective. The candidate should have scored at least 50% as an aggregate. Only wards of serving or retired Army Personnel can apply here. The parent should have completed 10 years of service in the Army. Children who were adopted by the Army Personnel can seek admission if they were adopted at least 5 years prior to the admission process. Stepchildren can apply provided at least one of the parents served in the Army.
The selection of candidates is based on JEE Mains, followed by Counselling. The total seat intake is 480 seats. AIT Pune fees for this four-year program is Rs 8.84 Lakhs.

Army Institute of Technology Pune scholarships are granted to students based on merit and financial need. The TATA and Express Readers Merit Scholarships grants Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 to top students in IT, Computer Science, Mechanical, and E&TC. The Horizon Scholarship supports children of JCOs/OR and girls from these families with scholarships ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000. The Open Merit Scholarship awards Rs 10,000 each to 15 students. The Udchalo Scholarship awards up to Rs 4,00,000 for meritorious students. ZS Associates grants 80% of fees for students with a family income under Rs 4 Lakhs Per Annum. The Persistent Scholarship helps 6 girls with Rs 40,000, and the Leela Poonawalla Foundation awards Rs 50,000 to 7 girls based on their academic performance.

AIT Pune Placements 2024 were a success, with the highest salary being offered at INR 51 LPA by Microsoft. The lowest salary was recorded at INR 2.50 LPA, offered by Trinity Touch. Some of the top recruiters included Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, JTP, Google, BNY Mellon, and Mastercard.
