To pursue FPM, candidates are required to meet certain prescribed eligibility criteria set by the respective institute. The basic FPM eligibility criteria to apply for the FPM course are mentioned below:
- Candidate should have a Post-Graduate degree or any equivalent degree in any discipline (including M.A., M.Sc., M.Com., M.B.A., M.C.A, M.Tech) with 55% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognized University.
- Candidates with other professional qualifications of C.A., ICWA, and C.S. with 50% marks in aggregate are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates with B.E/ B.Tech degree should have secured a minimum of 65% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA in their graduation followed by a minimum of 2 years of work experience.
- Candidate should have a valid score in accepted entrance test scores by the institute.
- Some Institutes also have a maximum age limit of 50-55 years.

- Admission to FPM is mostly based on the candidate’s performance in a relevant state or national level entrance test. However, some colleges also conduct their own entrance test to shortlist candidates.
- This is followed by a subsequent round of counselling which involves two additional rounds of Group Discussion (GD) / Research Presentation and Personal Interview (PI).
- A final merit list is prepared based on the composite score of past academic performance, entrance test score, and candidates’ performance in GD/Research Presentation and PI rounds.
