There is no management quota at DU — all admissions are strictly merit-based through centralised counselling.

Each year, more than 3 lakh applicants compete for admission, making it one of India's most competitive university admission processes. Ques. What are the four admission routes at Delhi University for 2026?
Ans. Delhi University uses four distinct admission routes in 2026: CUET UG for all regular undergraduate programs, CUET PG for most postgraduate programs, CAT 2025 for MBA at the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), and JEE Main 2026 (Paper I) for B.Tech at the Faculty of Technology. All UG and PG seat allocation is managed through the CSAS portal. There is no management quota — all admissions are strictly merit-based.
Ques. What CUET UG score is needed for top DU colleges in 2026?
Ans. Based on 2025 data, a CUET UG score of 700+ out of 1000 is considered necessary for top DU colleges in high-demand courses. For B.Com (Hons) at SRCC, the General category cutoff was 917. BA (Hons) Political Science at Hindu College closed at 951 — the highest across all DU programs in 2025. For 2026, cutoffs are expected to rise by 5 to 15 points at top colleges due to consistent year-on-year increases.
Ques. Can a gap-year student apply for DU UG Admission 2026?
Ans. Yes. Delhi University has no age bar and no gap-year restriction for UG admissions. Gap-year candidates must have a valid CUET UG 2026 score and meet the minimum 10+2 academic eligibility for their chosen program. There is also no domicile requirement — students from any state or board can apply through the CSAS portal on equal footing.
Ques. How does the Upgrade option work in DU CSAS?
Ans. After accepting a seat in any allotment round, you can choose Upgrade on your CSAS dashboard. The system checks your higher-ranked preferences in the next round. If a better preference is available, your current seat is auto-cancelled and the new seat is allotted. If no upgrade is possible, your existing admission is retained. Once you are satisfied with your allotted seat, select Freeze to exit the upgrade queue and secure your admission.
Ques. What is the reservation policy at Delhi University for 2026?
Ans. Delhi University follows Government of India reservation norms: 15% SC, 7.5% ST, 27% OBC-NCL, 10% EWS, and 5% PwBD (horizontal). Additional horizontal reservations apply for CW (Children/Widows of Armed Forces) and KM (Kashmiri Migrants) categories. OBC-NCL and EWS certificates must be issued after March 31, 2026 to be valid for 2026 admissions. There is no home-state or domicile-based reservation at DU.
Ques. What is the total B.Tech admission fee at DU Faculty of Technology?
Ans. The total first-year admission fee is INR 2,35,200. On allotment, pay INR 1,00,000 as an admission confirmation fee within the deadline; the remaining balance is due within 10 days of the closure of all rounds. Income-linked waivers apply: 90% off for parental income up to INR 4 LPA, and 50% off for income between INR 4 LPA and INR 8 LPA. PwBD candidates pay only INR 25,000 as confirmation fee. Laptop reimbursement of up to INR 50,000 is also available.
Ques. What happens if I miss the fee payment deadline in CSAS?
Ans. Missing the fee payment deadline after a seat is allotted — whether in CSAS UG or CSAS PG — results in automatic cancellation of your allocated seat. You will not be eligible for subsequent allotment rounds. Always log in to your CSAS dashboard and complete the fee payment before the round deadline. For Round 1 UG, the deadline is July 21, 2026 (11:59 PM); for Round 3 PG, it is July 13, 2026 (11:59 PM).

A research proposal is mandatory at the time of application for most departments. The PhD registration fee is INR 750 (non-refundable).
Ques. Is DU SOL a part of Delhi University and is its degree valid?
Ans. Yes. The School of Open Learning (SOL) is an official department of the University of Delhi. Degrees awarded by SOL are valid and recognised by UGC. Admission to SOL's BA and B.Com programs does not require CUET — it is based on 10+2 merit. Similarly, NCWEB (Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board) admissions are based on 10+2 marks without CUET. Apply at sol.du.ac.in for SOL admissions.

The University of Delhi is one of India’s leading educational institutions, captivating students nationwide and throughout the world. The exact percentage of Delhi students graduating from DU-affiliated colleges fluctuates due to multiple factors including distinct student demographics and the admission policies of Delhi University.
There are nearly 91 colleges in Delhi which are affiliated with Delhi University, providing a broad range of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses. The percentage of students graduating from DU-affiliated colleges can be measured or estimated through multiple covert prompts. Normally, around 50 to 60% of seats of various courses and programs in Delhi University are filled by Delhi students, as multiple colleges under Delhi University have a remarkable local catchment area. Although, this percentage can easily vary depending on the demand of the course and availability of seats in the College.
Hence, it seems plausible to predict that 50 to 60% of graduates from DU-affiliated colleges are residents of Delhi. This estimated percentage demonstrates the university's commitment to meeting the educational requirements of the local inhabitants, while also sustaining a broad, comprehensive admission policy that captivates students throughout the nation.
The Delhi University provides a distinctive admission quota known as “ Ward Quota or CW Quota'' which is specially formulated to offer academic opportunities to children and wards of defense and paramilitary personnel. This specific quota is a part of Delhi University's shared commitment to aid & support the families of people who have served the nation in military and paramilitary forces.
The “Wards Quota” is further divided into multiple categories taking into account various services backgrounds. These categories usually includes -
This special quota intends to mitigate the educational and financial stress encountered by the families of paramilitary and military forces, in recognition of their contributions and sacrifices to national defense & security.
