I always wanted to study about aerospace and rocket sciences so my only best options were the IIT's and this IIST as any private institute would not maintain proper labs as this course is choosen by so less people and the labs maintenance of this course has extreme costs so only government funded institutes can do this and this IIST is under ISRO organisation so it has connections with ISRO facilities and professors. The only thing needed for the admission are to pass the JEE advanced examination and enter your details in the seat allocation website of IIST.

The admission is on the basis of your Jee Advance score. There is a separate counselling conducted by iist on the basis of Jee Advance score. For my year Jee advance was a bit tough and cut off was 20%. For 2024 it is around 37%.

I wanted to work for ISRO hence decided to join this college. Other factors were my interest in structure and design and the overall aerospace Branch. One needs to qualify jee advanced exam and have 75% marks in 12th exam to be eligible for the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology councelling which takes place on their website iist.ac.in

First I wrote JEE mains then I qualified for mains and then I wrote JEE advanced I scored 98 marks in the JEE advanced exam. Then I applied for IIST college I got admission on the spot this college is in Kerala

Admission is based on JEE Advanced but they create their rank list. It's not compulsory to clear advance but you have to appear in it to take the admission. The college is space-oriented and has links with ISRO. So one having great interest in the space area can go for it.

The primary reason behind choosing this collage was the direct absorption by ISRO after the completion of B.Tech. Now other than a job opportunity in ISRO there are not many good options as compared to the IITs but on campus placement situation is improving.

I chose this college because I am very enthusiastic about the aerospace field and students from here get directly placed into ISRO if they have a CGPA above 7.5 (at least till my batch, now that provision has been removed). The admission process was quite simple, first, you have to apply on the IIST portal and fill in the details after which you are shortlisted based on your JEE advanced scores, if you make the cut, you get a call after which you have to report and submit your documents and medical report. The cut-off for general during my time was around rank 10k+, though this is unofficial as the official data is never disclosed, you only get intimated if you get the spot or not. The cut-off for the later batches is lower though. As for the preparations, apart from JEE advanced no other special preparation is required
