PEC Chandigarh uses different entrance tests and counselling routes for different courses. B.Tech admission is based on JEE Main, B.Des admission uses design entrance scores, M.Tech admission is mainly through GATE, and PhD selection is handled at the institute level.
| Course | Entrance Exam | Counselling Body |
|---|---|---|
| B.Tech (all branches) | JEE Main | JOSAA or CSAB |
| B.Des | UCEED or NID DAT | Institute-level |
| M.Tech (all specialisations) | GATE | CCMT or Institute |
| PhD | UGC NET, GATE, or institute entrance | Institute-level |
For B.Tech, PEC Chandigarh accepts only JEE Main scores. Seat allotment is done through JOSAA, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority, or CSAB, the Central Seat Allocation Board. PEC appears in the JOSAA institute pool with NITs and IIITs.
For General category students, CSE and Data Sciences closing ranks at PEC usually fall between 5,000 to 15,000 in JEE Main. Core branches such as Civil and Metallurgy generally close in the 30,000 to 70,000 rank range, so more JEE Main candidates can consider these branches.
M.Tech applicants need a valid GATE score in the relevant subject. GATE-qualified students can take part in CCMT counselling or apply through the institute. Non-GATE candidates may be considered for sponsored and self-financed seats handled by PEC.
B.Des admission is based on UCEED, the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design. The course is open to students from any Class 12 stream and attracts design-focused applicants from across India.
PEC Chandigarh received 461 offers for the 2025 B.Tech batch, and 120 of these were Pre-Placement Offers. NIRF 2025 data shows a B.Tech median package of INR 13 LPA and an M.Tech median package of INR 9 LPA. The highest package figures cited by aggregators go up to INR 25 LPA.

Placement and job opportunity is good because in civil engineering placement are good this college is better than many government college if no campus placement is offered than I prep for government exam connected to engineering like ies and many other best engineering government job
Read Full ReviewI personally intrested in Government jobs. And unfortunately I am getting civil at my rank which is best for government jobs. Degreewise all the professors are well qualified. Btech mtech and phds they have. But when it comes to teaching some are very good but few are bad enough. One mid term 1end term 3 quizzes and 3 viva each semester. Difficulty level is quiet good.
I don't have much idea about eligibility criteria because I have been in the clg 3 months. Company like Jp Morgan godrej britannia etc are the tip recruiters in our branch. This semester My H and Q company have given intern to many students. I am planning for government jobs. 40% of students are places in my branch.
Read Full ReviewAs i have experienced 3 months of college. I have given to maby quizes it is good that we have relating grading like iits but we have to give quizzes midsem then quizzes again again and agin which is frustrating at some where
Placemnts are better than other nits like hamirpur nit Jalandhar and nit kurukshetra also better than some private college like thapar its avg is like 13 lakh and median is 12 lakh for electrcal its same median avg is 14.5 and cse avg goes 20+ and ai avg 19 lakhs
Read Full Reviewcurriculum is good as we have relative grading like iits which is tough for students to compete teaching methods are good also we have quizzes in between midsem endsem and befor so full semester is academically full
placements are good and you can get the official data on college websity of my branch 94 placed out of 127 and avg package is 13.1 and median is 12 lpa but cse avg this year goes 20 + lpa but lower branch like civil has some low placemnt stats as many students go for foriegn ms or higher studies or gate psu from civil
Read Full Reviewthe course is outdated as of all the Indian engineering colleges have. the faculties here is very helpful and supportive I like the energy and dedication of few professors while few are just coming to get paid. I know a professor he gives his personal time to solve our doubts that is really very helpful
the placement is also a very good reason to opt for this college if you see the recent placement rates despite the recession the placement is good. many companies visit here every year to give placements. the placements for the lower branches like aerospace is horrible i dont know why they are not getting placed but the placement of circuital branches is very good
Read Full ReviewIn two months of starting your semester mid term exam happen and after two more months end sem exam will happen I between these four months atleast 2 quiz per subject will take place , and 75 percent attendance is mandatory
The Career Development and Guidance Centre (CDGC) at PEC plays a pivotal role in facilitating these internships, ensuring that students gain practical experience in their respective fields. (Generally all student get intern)
Read Full ReviewI am doing civil engineering and its course is outdated. Professor just focus more on theory part rather than practical knowledge. Every semester we have to study boring subjects with boring professors.
Brand name of college and the beautiful city Chandigarh which is located at prime area . Every thing is available near the college campus . Alumini network legacy is good than other prime institutions.
Read Full ReviewI chose this course because I had interest in civil engineering faculty. Here are PhD from IIT teaching method is good. There are midterm exams and end term exams. And in between quizzes viva and PPT presentation.
Placement and job opportunities are good. Everyone is eligible for placement. Just maintain decent CGPA which is easy. Various roles like data analyst, SDE and core are open to all average package is eight lakh per annum
Read Full ReviewI chose this course because I used to be enthusiastic about doing mechanical engineering. Most of the new faculties at my college are IIT alumni and they prefer teaching through PPT slides rather than writing each and every point of the topics. We used to have 2 exams every semester, one is mid-term at the completion of half syllabus and other exam is end-term at the completion of full syllabus. Apart from the major examinations, we also have frequent assignments, projects, quizzes, viva.
The eligibility criteria for placement is that student should not be having backlogs in any subject from the preceding semesters. Few notable recruiters were JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, American Express, arcesium, NatWest, TATA, Maruti and some of them even recruited dozens of students. Highest package offered was around 80 lpa by atlassian for the role of Software developer. On average more than 90% of students get placed. My plans after getting the degree is to land a decent job as a Data analyst and later prepare for gate or UPSC.
