Delhi University FAQs 2026

Ques. How much CUET score is needed to get admission in a top DU college?

Ans. There is no single universal cutoff. Every college and course releases its own cutoff after each CSAS round. A score of 700+ in CUET UG 2026 is widely considered necessary for top DU colleges in high-demand courses like B.Com (Hons), Economics (Hons), and English (Hons). For the BA Program and B.Sc in off-campus colleges, lower scores are also competitive.

Ques. What is the Subject Mapping rule introduced for DU 2026 admissions?

Ans. Candidates can only appear for CUET UG papers in subjects they actually cleared in 10+2. If your 10+2 subject is not offered as a CUET paper, you must pick a closely related subject. This rule is strictly enforced from the 2026-27 cycle to prevent students from selecting subject combinations they did not study.

Ques. What are Simulated Ranks in DU CSAS 2026 and how do they help?

Ans. Before the final seat allocation, DU shares a simulated rank with every candidate based on their CUET scores and saved preferences. This allows students to re-order their college and course preferences before the system locks them. Simulated Ranks is a new transparency feature introduced for the 2026-27 admission cycle.

Ques. Is DU PG admission 2026 currently open?

Ans. Yes. The CSAS-PG portal is live at pgadmission.uod.ac.in. DU offers 82 PG programs for the 2026-27 session, with admission based on CUET PG 2026 scores, which are auto-fetched via DigiLocker.

Ques. How many UG seats does Delhi University offer in 2026?

Ans. Delhi University offers 70,000 UG seats across 91 affiliated colleges and 79+ programs for the 2026-27 session. There is no merit-based admission to regular UG programs. All seats are filled through CUET UG 2026 and CSAS counselling.

Ques. Can a student apply to multiple DU colleges using a single application form?

Ans. Yes. DU uses a single registration form on the CSAS portal. Students can select as many course and college combinations as they want during Phase II preference filling. The exceptions are St. Stephen's College and Jesus and Mary College, which run their own separate application processes in addition to CSAS.

Ques. Is there a seat reservation for Delhi residents at DU?

Ans. Yes. Delhi University reserves up to 85% of seats for Delhi residents in most affiliated colleges, with 15% allocated to candidates from outside Delhi. Statutory reservations also apply: 15% SC, 7.5% ST, 27% OBC, 10% EWS, along with a 5% sports/ECA quota.

Ques. Which are the top-ranked colleges under Delhi University as per NIRF 2025?

Ans. As per NIRF 2025 Best Colleges, the top five DU colleges are Hindu College (1st), Miranda House (2nd), Hansraj College (3rd), Kirori Mal College (4th), and St. Stephen's College (5th). SRCC and LSR remain the top choices for commerce and women's education respectively, and consistently record the highest placement packages.

Ques. Is there any way to get into DU without appearing for CUET?

Ans. There is no admission to regular UG programs without CUET. The only DU pathways that do not require CUET are DU SOL (School of Open Learning) for distance UG and PG programs in Arts and Commerce, and NCWEB for female candidates in selected UG programs (Saturday-Sunday classes). Foreign nationals apply through a separate application form.

Ques. Does Delhi University offer a B.Tech program?

Ans. Yes. Delhi University offers a 4-year B.Tech program in three specialisations: Computer Science Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. Admission is through JEE Main. Lateral entry is also available for diploma holders with 60% (55% for SC/ST) via CUET UG. First-year fees are INR 2,35,200.

Ques. Are hostel facilities available for all students at DU?

Ans. No. DU has only 20 hostels across North and South Campuses, and not every affiliated college has its own hostel. Hostel allocation is merit-based and usually prioritises outstation and women students. Most students rely on private PGs in Kamla Nagar, Hudson Lane, Satya Niketan, or GTB Nagar at INR 8,000 to INR 15,000 per month.

Ques. What is the key difference between DU North Campus and South Campus?

Ans. The North Campus is home to the oldest and most well-known colleges such as Hindu, St. Stephen's, Hansraj, SRCC, Kirori Mal, Miranda House, and Ramjas. It is known for its vibrant fests, student societies, and active campus culture. The South Campus, located near Dhaula Kuan, houses LSR, Gargi, JMC, ARSD, and Sri Venkateswara, and is known for a quieter, more focused academic environment. Both campuses are well-connected by Delhi Metro.

Ques. Is JEE Main the only entrance exam accepted for B.Tech at Delhi University?

Ans. Yes. JEE Main is the only entrance exam accepted for the three regular B.Tech specialisations at the Faculty of Technology. CUET UG is not accepted for regular B.Tech admission, but is required for B.Tech lateral entry for diploma holders.

Ques. Can DU students apply for revaluation of their exam papers?

Ans. Yes. Revaluation is allowed only for theory papers in non-professional courses that have not been jointly evaluated. Applications must be submitted within 15 days of the result date, with a fee of INR 1,000 per paper. The form is available at du.ac.in.

Ques. Are scholarships available for first-year students at Delhi University?

Ans. Yes. The DU Financial Support Scheme covers candidates from families with an annual income below INR 8 Lakhs, with up to 100% fee waiver for income under INR 4 Lakhs. Merit-based stipends are available from Year 1 based on 10+2 or qualifying exam performance. EWS, SC, ST, and OBC candidates can also avail benefits through the National Scholarship Portal.

Ques. Is Delhi University a good option for pursuing an MBA?

Ans. Yes. Through the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi University offers one of India's top-tier MBA programs. FMS Delhi is known for having the lowest fees among Tier-1 business schools, with the full program costing INR 2 Lakhs. Placements regularly cross INR 40 LPA at the top end. Admission is through CAT, followed by Extempore, Group Discussion, and Personal Interview rounds.

Ques. What is the total fee for B.Com (Hons) at Delhi University?

Ans. First-year B.Com (Hons) fees vary by college: INR 18,260 at Hindu College, INR 32,420 at SRCC, and similar amounts at Hansraj, LSR, and Kirori Mal. Total 3-year fees typically stay under INR 1 Lakh at most affiliated colleges, making Delhi University one of the most affordable destinations for commerce education in India.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose the English hons course due my interest in Literary Studies and poetry, there are many no. of professors in the english department, which is very good, they are all really qualified, and teach effortlessly that if one pays attention things would be well clear to them, there are exams conducted per semester there are 6 semester and 3 years for my course.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are genuine, infact there is a dedicated placement cell in the college, companies like EY, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC too participate in our placement fairs and students have actually got good placements!

fairly well structured and definitely demanding. it focuses strongly on building conceptual clarity rather than spoon feeding, which is good in a longer tern but can feel like a pressure in the short term. the faculty is well experienced and also know what they're teaching very well.

Placement Experience:

the placement here is mid to low you've to hustle hard but still the campus placement is tough., the highest package that reached here was 5l pa and the compaines that come here are not not top notch but decent and if you're very lucky you might get placed.

The term or the semester exams are are held on very much time and difficulty level is made

The placements are available to the placement cell of SVC in your third year and various companies like Deloitte visit and people, especially from the commerce backgrounds get selected for the job as well. I had selected bcom hons and the reason for selecting this course is my commerce background in my senior year. All of the faculty members are all phd holders there are assistant as well as permanent professors. Some of them have double masters and one of them is CA also. The teaching is very good, friendly approachable understandable. The term exams are semester wise means there are exams twice a year and difficulty levels varies from exam to exam. Sometimes it is difficult and sometimes it's moderate.

Placement Experience:

The placement and internship opportunities are communicated to students through a common WhatsApp group by the career opportunity cell formed in the college which is headed by professors and lead by students. Fir placement you should be in your final year of the course you had opted. The major recruiters are EY,optum, tata, Accenture, wipro and many more. Highest package offered was 600000. Around 20% of the students got placement. I am planning to do masters after completing my course.
