There is CDC(Career Development Centre) which manages entire placement related activities. CDC conducts various sessions before placements and internships. There are many companies that visit our institute. The renowned companies are Google, Microsoft, Adobe, JP Morgan, BlackRock and many more. The highest package is usually in crores and average is around 15 LPA to 20 LPA. Almost 80% students get placed through CDC. I want to go to in tech field.
Every year an exam called JEE Advanced is conducted, through which you can secure admission at IITs by obtaining a good rank. Additionally, you must pass your 10+2 with at least 75%. There are no other eligibility criteria. The admission process of IITs are very simple. You have to go through counselling process of JOSAA and then the institute is allotted. After that, a physical verification is done at the institute level. I prepared for JEE advanced for two years in class 11 and 12. The campus life, placements, academics are very good at IIT KGP. The one thing I think that can be improved is the gender ratio which is very bad at IIT KGP(1:5).
Read Full ReviewEligibility varies according to department and year. Recruiters like Qualcomm, Intel, Texas Instruments, NVIDIA, Micron, MediaTek, Analog Devices etc. often visit for Placements of my department that is E&ECE. There is no data how much a particular company's average and highest package offered. But in 2023-24 placement session highest package and average package offered were 1.4 Cr INR and 25-26 lakhs respectively for E&ECE department. Current placement session hasn't ended. The placement percentage for E&ECE department was 87.05% last placement session. I am going to into VLSI industry after getting my degree as we know the future tech heavily depends on semiconductor and VLSI areas.
As it is an IIT, first we have give Jee Mains and clear, it's cut-off (just cut-off is required to clear), and then give JEE Advanced and clear subject wise cut-off and get a good rank so that you can surpass cut-off rank of IIT Kharagpur and as well as of the branch you are aiming to choose. Then participate in Josaa Counselling, provide all the documents needed like Caste Certificate, Jee Advanced Scorecard, Adhaar Card etc. and then choose the colleges which you prefer to get admitted and wait till 6th round you get your college, confirm your seat. And then you will get provisional offer letter from your institute, visit that institute for other process and it's done. Good Aspect of IIT KGP: Each person, from workers to Prof has helping nature, there is so much brotherhood in the campus, you will not feel alone. Bad Aspect: You may have to compromise with food quality in mess, and also they lack in medical facilities, so keep your medicine kit always with yourself in campus.

Admission to all IITs is through JEE Advanced, so it was less of a choice but more of a chance to get this college depending on my rank. The JoSAA counseling. JEE Advanced is a 6 hr computer based test, I also cleared the qualifying exam of JEE Advanced, the JEE Mains. I didn't face Group Discussions or Interviews.

Yes, one has to clarify JEE Mains first and then JEE Advanced. My college is one of the oldest engineering colleges in India and also 1st IIT. Everyone who wants to pursue engineering wants to get an IIT.
Read Full ReviewThe on campus placements are very good. The highest being 2.5 crores p.a. approximately and the average being 2450000 p.a.. There are at first the CG criteria where you have to maintain atleast a CG of 6.0 or above to sit for the placements provided that there are no backs in any of the subjects nor any disciplinary charges against you. Apart from these there are various criterion imposed by the visiting companies to select the idle candidates.

No I did not given any GD/PI for admission the only exam i need to clear was JEE Advance and the AAT(for architecture only). I choose this college because of its academic curriculum and alum network. IIT Kharagpur creates a very friendly atmosphere for a student for uplifting his skills. The only problem is its location it is 200km away from kolkata where airport is located although railway station is there at a distance of 1km from the campus. Inside campus everything is very good organised and managed.

There was only an examination called Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) with a prerequisite Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) to qualify for courses in the college. There was no GD or PI. Cutoffs were around 90% in mains to write advanced and in advanced, my AIR was 6578 so I could qualify for BTech in Civil Engineering in this college. There was a counselling process called Joint seat allocation where I was given the choices of colleges and courses to choose from. I chose this college as it had the non academic factors like language, food and climate in my favor and I am well interested into the course offered. One of the things I don't like about my college is the over hype for extra academic activities.
